Haitian Earthquake information - the Episcopal Diocese of Haiti is a member of Province II, as is the Diocese of Western New York.  As of Wednesday afternoon we have heard that the Episcopal Cathedral, the bishop's house, and a school, convent and college on the cathedral grounds are all destroyed, several other churches are either damaged or destroyed.  There are thousands of people dead and wounded in Haiti.  The best way to help right now is to donate to  Episcopal Relief and Development as other needs become known we will pass that information on

Feast of Lights

The Feast of Lights is a service of Epiphany - of the coming of light into the world and the spread of that light.  It tells the story of the coming of Christ and the spread of the light through the lighting of candles and readings and hymns.

The church starts in darkness and in the darkness one light comes in - the light of Christ - from that light two candles are lit for Mary and Joseph and so on until everyone in the church is holding a light.  It is traditionally a service conducted by children and youth.

A
ll children and youth ages 8 and up are invited to participate.  We would also appreciate the assistance of some adults to help sing :-).  A sign up sheet is in the parish hall.  The service is Sunday January 17 at 5:30 p.m. - right after the pork dinner - rehearsal will be Saturday the 16th at 10 a.m.
Theology on Tap

Our next gathering to drink beer (or coke) and talk about God will take place Wednesday January 20 at 8:30 p.m. at Brennan's, in the Barnes & Noble plaza at Main & Transit.  All are welcome.

2010 Annual Meeting & Vestry Elections

Please join us on Sunday, January 31 for the Annual Meeting & Elections.  The meeting will start at 8:45 a.m., so that parishioners from both services can be more easily included.

The following persons are currently running for Vestry (3-year term): Debbie Bardo, Mark Hout, and Jason Miller.  Nominations from the floor will also be accepted.  We will also be seeking nominations for delegates to Diocesan Convention (which takes place every year in October).

If you are the head of a parish group or committee, please get your annual report to Liz by Sunday, January 24, so that the booklets can be assembled for the following week.  If you are unsure whether you owe a report, please call the office (632-8221), during office hours (9-4).
Newcomers' Dinner - SAVE THE DATE!!!

Please plan to join us on Friday, February 5, at 6:00 p.m. for our annual Newcomers' Dinner.  As is our tradition at St. Paul's, we welcome all those who have joined the parish over the last year.  Those who are newcomers' are invited to attend as guests; everyone else is requested to please bring a dish to pass.  Look for a sign-up sheet in the parish hall in the next week or so.
