St. Paul's - a place children want to be
One of the goals for this year is to make St. Paul's a place that children want to be.

Part of that is making St. Paul's a safe place for children.

Safe Church training is being offered on Saturday November 21 from 10 to 3 at St. Peter's Eggertsville.

Pastor Vicki will be going.  If  you'd like to attend please let her know.
What are your kids doing?
Pastor Vicki would like to support the kids of St. Paul's by attending their games, concerts, science fairs etc...

Please let her know when things are coming up.  (paulsrector@gmail.com)
The more notice she has the more likely she is to be able to come.
This Week at St. Paul's
Thank you all who have returned your pledge cards.  If you have not yet returned your pledge card, please send it in or bring it to church with you.

If you've misplaced your pledge card please give Liz a call at 632-8221 or send her an email at paulspals@gmail.com and she'll get you a new one.
New Addition to the St. Paul's Family

The Rev. Deacon Dan Fournier, who is the Eastern Erie Deanery Deacon, will be making his home at St. Paul's.

Dan will be with us three sundays a month (the fourth he will be visiting other congregaitons in the deanery).

Dan will be working with the Deanery Youth Group and on developing a unifiying vision and mission for outreach at St. Paul's and helping us move out and get more involved in the community and the world.

Dan's first day at St. Paul's will be November 1.

Halloween Party

pumpkin
We are reviving the tradition of the St. Paul's Halloween Party.  It will be Friday October 30 from 6 to 8 p.m.  The Youth Group is hosting a haunted house.  The Sunday School teachers are planning some games, the Parish Life committee is organizing the food and the parking for the Trunk or Treat.

We need a few more people to plan some games.  We also need people to bring food and to participate in Trunk or Treat.

If you'd like to help the youth group with the haunted house, contact Andrea Brown at andrealtbrown@gmail.com.

If you'd be willing to plan and run a game, contact Mona Gaddis at megaddis@verizon.net.  Mona won't be able to actually be at the party, because Diocesan Convention is the same day.  So if you'd be willing to be the games coordinator, let her know that too.

If you'd be willing to help with food or trunk or treat contact Mary McCall at mary@nightflax.com.

If you'd be willing to help publicize the event in the wider community contact Pastor Vicki at paulsrector@gmail.com.

Kate Macke has agreed to be the over-all coordinator - she will earn a special place in heaven for that, if you'd like to help coordinate contact her at kmacke@azerty.com.

If you want a great parking spot, plan on decorating your trunk and bringing treats for the kids, because Trunk or Treat participants get the best spots.
Some Ways to Get Involved

We are developing a group of "welcomers" to greet visitors to St. Paul's and help them find their way and get to know us.  Those interested will be meeting in the parish hall on November 8 at 9:15

There will be a brief meeting of readers and chalice bearers (and those interested in being a reader or chalice bearer) in the parish hall at 9:15 on November 15.

We need a few more people to help with counting the Sunday collection.  Training will be provided.  Send an e-mail to Steve Anderson at  andersonsp@roadrunner.com if you are interested.

Flu Season is here
The flu spreads most often by person to person contact, usually by someone touching a surface with the virus on it and then touching their eyes, nose or mouth.  The best way to prevent the flu is to not touch your eyes, nose or mouth and to wash your hands.

We have put hand sanitizers in the pews for use after the peace, this will help prevent the spread of germs from person to person.

In regards to communion, the safest way to receive communion is from the common cup, the least safe way is for everyone to dip their wafer into the wine (intinction) or having the chalice bearer intinct the wafer and then put it in your mouth.  Both of these methods increase the risk of transferring germs from person to person.

·         If you are ill or fell uncomfortable receiving from the common cup - please receive only the bread
·         Please do not intinct the wafer in the chalice
·         Neither the Eucharistic Ministers nor the priest will place the wafer on your tongue, please receive the wafer in your hand.

The best ways to be safe during flu season are simple:  If you are sick, please stay home.  Wash your hands and use hand sanitizer.  Get a flu shot.
