Ministry Fair
Ministry Fair is an opportunity to celebrate the ministries of the church and for all of us to find out a little about all the things that are going on here at the church and that the church is doing out in the world (it's also a chance to get involved in a new ministry).

If you are the head of a ministry at St. Paul's, prepare a table display about your ministry and make sure you have someone to staff the table too.
This Week at St. Paul's
Have a safe and fun Labor Day weekend.  The program year at St. Paul's kick's off a week from Sunday, September 13, but we are here this week too.  If you are travelling, travel safely, if you are in town come to church.
Sunday School Begins September 13

childrenThe whole congreation will be gathering outside at 10 a.m. to start the Sunday School year with joy (and bubbles).

Children will return from Sunday School at the peace and remain with their families for the rest of the service.

All children are welcome, no pre-registration is necessary.

Mona Gaddis is still seeking a few teachers and some substitutes.  She can be reached at megaddis@verizon.net
Celebration of a New Ministry and 60 years
Bishop Garrison will be at St. Paul's on Friday, September 18 for the Celebration of the Ministry of our new rector and of the 60th Anniversary of the Dedication of St. Paul's, which is that day.

We will bless the rectory at 6:30 p.m. and start the service of Celebration at 6:45.  Please mark your calendars and plan to be there.

Donna Leney is coordinating the reception and particularly needs desserts.  Contact her at dleney@verizon.net

Since St. Paul's is known as the church that children built, children will have a major role and they all are welcome.
St. Francis of Assisi - October 4
The feast day of St. Francis of Assis is Sunday October 4.  St. Francis was known for kindness to animals and feeding the poor.  We will have the chance to do both to celebrate his day.

Blessing of the Animals - is a St. Francis' day tradition. We will bless all animals (live and stuffed) at 3 p.m.

Clarence Walk for Meals on Wheela & Clarence Food Pantry   will end at St. Paul's at about 3 p.m. also.  It starts at Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church at 1 p.m.  If you'd like to walk, get a sponsorship form from Pastor Vicki.  If you walk with your dog (and your cat if you can get it to walk on a leash), you can arrive just in time for the animal blessing.

If you'd like to help plan the event or bring food for the walkers and animal owners, please sign up in the parish hall.  A planning meeting will be at 9:15 in the library on September 13.
Mission Trip in Our Own Backyard - Our trip to Gowanda
Work crew in Gowanda

A group from St. Paul's went to Gowanda on August 29.  We spent the day moving some of the mud that the floods deposited in Gowanda.   The major need at the moment is money to hire earth moving equipment and people to use it.

If you'd like to make a contribution to the effort the Diocesan website has the details about how to do that.

Speaking of donations.  St. Paul's collected $829.00 for disaster relief in August.  We sent $276.33 to the churches in Gowanda, Silver Creek and Lake View.  Gowanda and Silver Creek will use the money for dry cleaning and other incidental expenses incurred in cleaning up after the flood.  Lake View will use it towards more major building repair necessitated by repeated flooding.
Backpack Blessing - August 30

backpacks & supplies

50 people gathered Sunday afternoon to bless the backpacks and the new school year.

We blessed school suplies, students and teachers.  We ate and had fun and most importantly, we collected enough supplies for more than 20 children to have complete sets of new supplies with lots left over.  Donated supplies went to Friends of the Night People in Buffalo, School 3 in Buffalo and several local families.

See video of some of the service and of Pastor Vicki and some of the children dancing.

Thank you to all who worked so hard to make the wonderful day happen.
