Diocesan Disaster Response |
| As you know there has been a great deal of flooding in the the Southern tier. Three churches were flooded. St. Alban's, Silver Creek, St. Mary's, Gowanda and Holy Communion, Lakeview.
St. Paul's has committed to paying for the dry cleaning of vestments and paraments for those congregations. We anticipate that amount to be around $300. If you'd like to contribute to that please write a check to St. Paul's and mark it flood relief.
In addition the Diocese is collecting funds and the names of people willing to help.
Donations to the fund may be earmarked in one of two ways:
To aid families and individuals in the affected communities
To help defray clean up and restoration costs not covered by flood insurance that are incurred by our churches.
To donate to this fund, write a check payable to "Episcopal Diocese of Western New York." please designate either "Community Needs" or "Church Needs." Also, please note the name of the congregation to which you belong below the memo line. Checks may be mailed to: Episcopal Diocese of WNY, 1114 Delaware Avenue, Buffalo, NY 14209.
To make an online donation, have your credit card handy and go to www.episcopalwny.org/donate. Select "Special Event" from the drop down menu and type "Disaster-Community" or "Disaster-Churches" in the first textbox.
If you want to volunteer to help, please email your name, address, phone number, email address and parish name to communication@episcopalwny.org. Those who submit their names will be kept informed as more information becomes available.
