22 June 2011

Dear GVCCC Members and Friends,

This week is LGBT Pride Week and we have some great events to announce in celebration of it. The first one is a Pride Celebration event hosted by Manhattan Borough President, Scott M. Stringer on June 23rd. The other event is hosted by Classic Harbor Line, who, on June 26th, will take a trip along the New York City skyline.

There will also be a panel on small business on June 23rd with Jorge Silva-Puras from the U.S. Small Business Administration. Discussions will center around resources, legacy and retirement planning for business owners.

Lastly, just a reminder about upcoming GVCCC committee meetings. On Monday, June 27th the Government Relations, Marketing and Membership committees will be hosting meetings to discuss ways to increase Chamber membership, raise our profile and effectively advocate for the business community.

See below for more information on events and Chamber happenings.

A Panel on Small Business: Resources, Legacy and Retirement Planning for Business Owners

oleNYSSBDCEXITO

Business owners should have a balanced philosophy of both retirement planning and legacy planning. Most small business owners truly value their employees, but they should not have to choose between securing their future and that of the people they employ. Planning needs to be designed so that individuals take care of their retirement concerns today with a diligent eye for the future. While none of us can predict the future, we all must agree that doing nothing will give us just that... Nothing!

Keynote Speaker:

Jorge Silva-Puras, U.S. Small Business Administration
