Dear GVCCC Members and Friends,
It is my pleasure to announce two new Silver Chamber Champions: Beth Israel Medical Center, one of New York's premier hospitals, and Roosevelt Hospital, offering world-class clinical care to New Yorkers around the clock. I want to also welcome John E. Osborn P.C, Attorneys and Counselors at Law to the Chamber. We look forward to working with you!
In addition to welcoming new members, I want to remind you about an upcoming discussion being offered to GVCCC members at a discount by the Historic Districts Council. As we all know, navigating the land marks process in New York City is overwhelming and at times, confusing. Let the Historic Districts Council guide you through the process of restoration, renovation and adaptive reuse work that is done on designated landmark buildings in a panel discussion lead by experts on the matter.
Lastly, as the legislative session in Albany comes to a close, I would like to encourage the community to rally around the issue of Marriage Equality. Tony Juliano, our Chairman and President, has drafted a letter, specifying in more details ways to get involved and more information surrounding the issue.
Best,
Tom Gray
Executive Director GVCCC

Understanding the Landmark Process | |
Join the Historic Districts Council on for a program discussing performing restoration, renovation and adaptive reuse work on designated landmark buildings in New York City. There are over 25,000 buildings in New York City which are overseen and regulated by the Landmarks Preservation Commission. These buildings range from rowhouses in Brooklyn Heights to commercial buildings in Midtown Manhattan, and include prominent well-known structures such as Grand Central Terminal, the Chrysler Building and Tweed Courthouse.
Hear from experts who will detail case studies of real preservation projects, discuss new methods and materials, and get answers to frequently-asked questions about the regulatory process and working with Landmarks Preservation Commission.

Marriage Equality Bill
| |
The time has come once again to rally around the issue of equal rights for all sexual orientations by urging our state legislators to pass the marriage equality bill. As this controversial issue makes its way through our legislative process, it is important to remember that just a short time ago in 2009 the push for marriage equality failed in the Democratic-controlled State Senate.
Marriage equality legislation will help foster an inviting environment for our LGBT communities and give them a reason to stay in our community rather than relocate to a state that recognizes same sex marriage. Besides being a human rights issue, marriage equality will also be economically beneficial for the greater Greenwich Village and Chelsea businesses and neighborhoods. Many businesses in these areas are both owned and frequented by many members of this community.
