| New Social Media Benefits for Chamber Members | |
Currently, only 12 percent of small businesses are using any kind of social media. This is a remarkably low number given the success of platforms like Facebook and Twitter. GVCCC wants to continue to work with you to change that and help spread the word about your business.
Now, in addition to our newsletters, Chamber members can post events on our Facebook page and Tweet promotions to Chamber followers via Twitter. Our lists are growing and the more amazing deals we send to our friends and followers, the more people know where to shop and dine. Just one more reason to join GVCCC!
Be sure to follow us on our Twitter and to like our fan page on Facebook. Send event details or your Tweet to dan@villagechelsea.com.

Welcome to Wendy Walk and Sign Up Information
| |

The GVCCC would like to extend a warm welcome to our newest member, the Wendy Walk Liposarcoma Foundation. Founded in 2010, the organization created the first international coalition of doctors focused on discovering the cause of Liposarcoma, a rare form of cancer.
Wendy Walk was founded by Wendy's family to raise awareness and promote research of this debilitating disease. Wendy's strength, courage and unwavering positive attitude serve as inspiration for all those affected by this condition and you can help make even more of an impact by walking with us on May 7.
Come join the Chamber's team! Be sure to list the GVCCC along with the names of participants. Enrollment is only $30 to walk in the event and $60 to participate in both the walk and brunch. (Members feeling particularly generous are welcome to donate more.)

| St. Vincent's Development Update | |
The closing of Saint Vincent Medical Center has had a devastating effect on the local economy and has been detrimental to the small businesses surrounding the hospital. More than 30 businesses have shut their doors since the closing and many of those that remain are struggling. That is why, after reviewing the proposal and carefully weighing the alternatives, the Greenwich Village-Chelsea Chamber of Commerce (GVCCC) is strongly supportive of the North Shore-LIJ Health System and Rudin Management plan for St. Vincent's.
The plan to invest more than $110 million to transform Saint Vincent's O'Toole Building into a comprehensive, free-standing emergency department will provide important medical care and bring a powerful economic engine back to our community.
We, like others in the community, hoped that Saint Vincent Medical Center would be replaced with a full-service hospital and emergency department. However, a year after its closing the challenges of funding and operating such a full-service hospital have proven insurmountable.
