18 January 2011
Hello Members and Friends,

Hope you had a great weekend!

The St. Vincent's area businesses are still struggling for foot traffic and patronage after the closure of the hospital and we are intent on raising awareness.  In conjuction with Assembly Woman Glick we will be hosting a Valentines Shopping Day complete with raffles and gifts, in the area surrounding St. Vincent's.  See below for more information on this amazing shop local event!

Perplexed by all the tweeting and facebooking out there? Our seminar on Social Media has been moved to February 11 and we hope you will attend.  This seminar will help you figure out which social marketing tools are right for you and how to get started optimizing your virtual footprint.  RSVP today!

Visit our new website today! Several of the areas on the website are still in progress as we are building out content and functionality to better serve your needs. For now, find information, news and events, basic resources etc. and members can create an online account.  Members who create online accounts can access the members only section, pay bills online, upload job listings and post-events as well as many other special details.

Best,

Roasting Plant
The Chamber's new website has a monthly profile of a member.  Chamber Champions will all be highlighted in this new feature, where you can read a quick snapshot of what makes each business special.  For the first profile on the new website though, we we highlighted a St. Vincent's area business.

The Roasting Plant, is a locally owned, independent, NY based business, and a Chamber member since 2010.  They see themselves as a technology company that happens to sell coffee, and we at the Chamber can attest that their coffee is incredible!

Unclaimed Funds with the State - Are You or Your Business Owed Money?

For your protection, banks, insurance companies, utilities, investment companies and many other businesses are required by State law to surrender inactive accounts to the State. These accounts are known as "lost," "abandoned," or "unclaimed" funds.

The Office of the State Comptroller serves as custodian of this money.  If you can prove you are entitled to the money, they will gladly return it to you, at any time, without charge.

In conjunction with the Comptroller's office, the Chamber has identified MANY of our members who have unclaimed funds.  Regardless of whether or not you think you may be owed money, you should check.  Give the Chamber a call at 212.337.5923 and we will show you how to find your unclaimed funds or you can go directly to www.osc.state.ny.us.

For those of you whom we previously contacted, your forms are in!  We will call you this week - what a great way to start the new year!
