We hope you had a wonderful holiday weekend and are gearing up for an exciting autumn. The Chamber has packed the coming months with lots of great events including a luncheon with State Comptroller Tom DiNapoli on the 21st! RSVP for this exciting luncheon now! View all of our upcoming scheduled events on the right-hand sidebar of this newsletter! We are re-launching our website this fall and will have a more comprehensive (and downloadable) member directory with a search function. If you are an existing member, please download this membership form and fax back to us at 212.924.0714 so that we have the most up-to-date information, and proper search terms for your business.
If you'd like to include a discount, event, or piece of information in the newsletter, we want to know about it. To be included, email us by each Friday at noon, to be included in the following week's eblast. Logos and other artwork, should be in JPEG format and less than 2.5 MB.

Calling All Bars, Restaurants, Retail Shop & Attractions! | |
The CMJ Music Marathon & Film Festival is back on October 19 - 23. CMJ takes over NYC, hosting 1200 bands who perform amazing music to over 120,000 music fans in 75 venues in lower Manhattan and Brooklyn.
Be part of the CMJ Community Outreach Initiative, and benefit from the vast purchasing power of their audience. CMJ is looking to partner with local retailers, restaurants, museums, and other businesses to encourage CMJ attendees to visit these establishments.
All you have to do is offer a discount or a special deal (free drink with meal purchase, 2-for-1 deals) to CMJ badge-holders. In exchange, CMJ will promote your business as part of their Community Initiative, on their website, e-mail blasts and in the CMJ Festival Guide. They will also give you free CMJ registration badges.
To further promote the partnership, you can promote the CMJ discount info on your website, e-mail blasts, Facebook and/or Twitter. There's also the opportunity to get even more involved, such as holding an in-store event.

McBurney YMCA Featured on ABC! | |
On August 23, 2010 WABC-TV ran a segment on how to pack a healthy brown bag lunch featuring Chef Mikey Price of Market Table restaurant, who gave an interactive sandwich making demonstration to more than 30 campers at the McBurney YMCA.
The segment encourages New York City parents to pack healthy, nutritious and tasty brown bag lunches for kids and includes an interview with John Rappaport, Executive Director of the McBurney YMCA and GVCCC Board Member, in which he speaks about the popularity of cooking camp at the McBurney Y.

North Shore-LIJ and VillageCare to Open Urgent Care Center | |
On August 26, North Shore Long-Island Jewish Medical Centers announced a partnership with VillageCare, a long time Chamber Champion, to open a 24 hour/ 7 day Urgent Care Center. The Center will be located at 121-A West 20th Street, between 6th and 7th Avenues. Together they will offer a wide range of services that will help to replace some of the services lost with the closing of St. Vincent Hospital. Click here to read the full press release. |
