World of Jazz - This Saturday July 31st | |
This Saturday, July 31 visit the Chelsea Art Museum at 12:00 pm for spectacular Jazz music featuring Elias Meister and Jeff Miles. This concert brings together two of New York's most exciting new guitar virtuosos in a rare duo performance.
Elias Meister's style is rooted in the contemporary jazz of John Scofield and Kurt Rosenwinkel as well as his extensive background of playing bossa nova guitar. Jeff Miles - winner of the 2008 Gibson Montreux Jazz competition - plays in the tradition of Pat Metheny pushing the boundaries of sound and melodic textures. This exciting project is put together exclusively for this year's CAM summer series.
World of Jazz builds on the legacy of the abstract expressionist painter Jean Miotte, whose foundation is housed within Chelsea Art Museum. Miotte's painting is inspired by the improvisational qualities of Jazz. Through his painting, Miotte strove to build a bridge between cultures and transcend national boundaries to form a truly international artistic language. It is in this spirit that Chelsea Art Museum welcomes a diverse pool of talented jazz artists whose music is infused with musical traditions from around the world.
