Paid Sick Leave Bill Reintroduced as INT 0097 |
|
With the backdrop of an unemployment rate exceeding the national average, City Council members heard at a public hearing on paid sick time legislation that businesses can and will move outside of NYC to more hospitable areas where they can grow and compete.
Businesses that stay will not only face tough competition from outside the city, but must also contend with growth-killing policies from our city council. Jobs will be lost, hours reduced and wages lowered to pay for this misguided mandate.
Let us be clear, New York City businesses of every size support the right of workers to stay home without fear of retribution if they are sick.
Protections and guidelines are in place at the City, State and Federal level to ensure employees have the protections they need. The Federal government is looking at job creation and sick time bills too, let's wait on them to do their job before passing a job killing bill in NYC.
Keep NYC's job creation and growth economic engine running; don't enact a bad policy that will force business to downsize. Tell the City Council to do the right thing...NYC needs job creation, not job killing legislation.
City Council Speaker Christine Quinn has yet to take an official position on this bill. Email the Speaker and let her know how you feel about INT 0097!
