Greetings!
Welcome to May!
After an amazing first two months of the season, with record turnouts at most events, I thought you'd all like to know what we've been working on.
1. Timing System - we have been working to fully realize all the extra cool functions in the system, such as lap scoring, setting up additional data-collection points on the race course, displaying split times at the races, and results uploads and emails from the race venue. Something that everyone needs to know: the Timing System is working incredibly well. The problems we experience have to do with race registration. Little errors cause big problems on race day, so please confirm your ACA#, your USAC#, your team #, and if filling out paper registration forms - write legibly!! Don't hurt your chances on race day - bring a completed release form with you to save time and reduce errors.
2. Data - As you know from an earlier e-mail, we had a wrinkle in our database 10 days ago that required a restoration of some data. There was no breach in security. If you have not already done so, please confirm that the information in your ACA profile is correct, especially ACA #, USAC #, Team #, Gender and Category. The introduction of information from USAC has been more difficult than we had anticipated. We are continuing to work on this issue. The most obvious problem that is still recurring is the display of team points for the Team Road Cup Competition. If your team name and number are not correct, we cannot calculate team points for your results. The deadline for fixing your team name and number is May 15, 2012 - after this we will only calculate your team points for future events. Thank you for your patience as we get this sorted out. 3. Relationships - We continue to build new relationships and strengthen our existing partnerships for the betterment of cycling in Colorado. The last four months have seen a tremendous amount of work in this area, with our support and communication with the Rocky Mountain Collegiate Cycling Conference, the Colorado High School Cycling League, the Tour de Cure, Bicycle Colorado, the USA Pro Cycling Challenge, the USA Cross Nationals coming to Boulder, USA Cycling, the Rocky Mountain Bicycle Festival, Boulder County, the City of Golden, new and renewing Official Partners, and our great member clubs and race promoters. Whew! 4. Colorado State Championship Events - One major project each year is to find Championship events for all our categories and disciplines. This is usually accomplished at the promoters meetings in the fall and spring when promoters bid to host championship events. This road season, no clubs bid to host junior and masters road race championships. We are currently exploring options to get these championships on the calendar, and hope to make an announcement for these designations soon. As you can imagine, this process is not simple, nor is it possible to add events to an already full schedule. 5. Clubs Doing Good - As we work to grow our great sport, we need to be cognizant of the impact that we have on our host communities. Many of our clubs are incredible citizens in addition to their racing: mix1 has adopted roads in Boulder County, Naked p/b Tribella is coordinating a book drive for a Denver literacy project, Team Evergreen donates more than $100,000 each year to worthy non-profit organizations, Boulder Cycle Sport works with Safe Routes To School, and the ACA itself is a proud supporter of Bicycle Colorado. Please share your good works with the ACA community, be it on Facebook, 303cycling, or by sending me an email. We need to know how cycling is making a positive contribution to Colorado! Thanks for reading, and as always, please contact me with your questions and concerns.

Meet an ACA Board Member Tim Lynch
Growing up in Fort Collins, Tim Lynch has always had a passion for cycling. That passion was cemented during his first year of college in Durango, CO. Following a weekend of CX racing in 2007, Tim had a heart attack at the age of 37. The experience forced Tim to re-evaluate and define what was truly important in his life. After 20+ years of riding/racing bikes, Tim chose to give back to the cycling community and was elected to the ACA board in December 2010. Continuing to give back and wanting to grow Northern Colorado cycling (and cycling in general) Tim promoted the "Cross of the North" cyclocross race in 2011. Tim currently races for the E2 Cycling team and works for Northern Colorado Water Conservancy District to find cost effective water conservation solutions for the public. A father of 3 incredible daughters and husband of 20+ years, Tim credits his family for the accomplishments and successes in his life.

*** Timing Chip Placement - a Refresher Good:
Bad:
Chips need to be on the front of your bicycle, facing forward, with your ACA number facing upwards. This provides the best signal for the system and makes the chip visible to the finish line camera. If you want to be scored at your next race, it's important to have your chip placed correctly on your bike. ***
