Weekly Update for September 28, 2011

Registration and Pre-Registration

Please note that we are working to make pre-registration more consistent

for our riders, promoters, officials, timing company, and staff.

 * For Saturday races, pre-reg closes at 11:59pm on Thursday. *

* For Sunday races, pre-reg closes at 11:59 on Friday. *

If you cannot pre-register, day-of registration closes 30 minutes prior to your race.

Juniors, this means you too.

Any time less than 30 minutes, and we have trouble getting the start list correct.

And can you guess what happens next?  That's right - the results are a mess!

"We are very excited about the great attendance we are having this cross season!  Larger fields also mean longer lines on race day registration and that in turn can add stress to an already tight schedule.  In an effort to make your race day less stressful, why not get the registration line out of the way by pre registering?

Please take a look at the pre registration options on the race flyers and take advantage of them. Junior racers will especially benefit from pre registering. Being the first ones to start, the process is easier when all you have to do is pick up a number and sign a pre printed release.

Have a great day and see you at the races!"

- from an ACA Official.  This message is wholeheartedly endorsed by ACA staff.

Timing System for the 20111 Cross Season

Here is the plan - so Listen Up!  It's actually shockingly simple.

We will use the Timing System at ALL Cross Cup events.  If you don't have a chip, you will not be listed in preliminary results, you won't have a time for your result, and we cannot compare lap times.

Call-ups

For non- Cup races, we are using www.crossresults.com to generate our call-up lists.  These call-up lists are based upon 2011 results only and may not match what you see on their site for other rankings (which may take into account last year's results).

For Colorado Cross Cup races, we are using only Cup races for call-ups.  The first Cup race on October 1 will use call-ups from 2010 Cross Cup Overall standings.  (The one exception for Cross Cup #1 is SM 35+ Cat 3.  This new category will use 2011 crossresults.com call-ups for the first Cup race.) The second Cup race will use the results from the first Cup race.  The third Cup race will use results from #1 and #2.  And so on.

Timing Chip Placement  - Another Reminder

If you have only one cross bike, you CAN put the chip on your headtube using zip-ties.
If the finish result is so close that we can't tell the difference between a finisher with an ankle-mounted chip and a finisher with a headtube-mounted chip,  we will use the finish line camera to get it right.

Please mount your chip correctly - it must be positioned vertically to send the best signal.
Chips mounted horizontally under the stem, or on the handlebars, do not send a good signal.

This is correct chip placement.  These chips are oriented vertically to send the best signal.
