Boulder Peak

Greetings!

We ended July on a high note:  1,200 racers at Mt Evans and nearly 900 at the three-day Salida Classic!

And we've got more incredible road racing on deck:  Lookout, Bannock, Raisin Hope, Masters Criterium Champs at the Fort Collins Cycling Festival, and we've saved one of the best for the late season: the Steamboat Springs Stage Race.  The road season concludes in September with two midweek series: the Bear Creek Lake Time Trial Series and DBC's Boulder County Criterium Series.

All cycling eyes will be on Colorado this month, and we have launched a campaign with the headline "Bicycle Racing is for Everyone - Experience It Yourself."  You'll see posters in your local bike shops, new efforts at growing our membership, and new partners who believe in building our sport at the local level.

When you and your family are participating in non-competitive events like the Boulder Nites Classic, please think about how you can share your passion for racing with others.  Do you have a friend who rides but has never raced?  The Bear Creek Lake Time Trials are the perfect races to try our great sport - and we even have a free training clinic the week before the series starts.

Please watch the ACA website, Facebook, twitter, and our weekly updates for the latest in ACA happenings, and as always, you can find all the race details on the ACA event calendar.   Thanks for sharing this e-newsletter with your friends and family.

ACA Business:
Club Surveys, Fall Awards Party, Fall Meeting and More

In the next two weeks, we will send a survey to all clubs.  Please look out for this survey, carefully read the contents, and return the survey in a timely manner.  The ACA is built on our clubs, and we need your input!

The ACA will host two awards parties for the 2011 season.  These events are not to be missed - we'll have great food and drinks, raffles for amazing prizes, and awards presentations to recognize the achievements of our friends and competitors.

On September 17th, we will hold the 2011 Road Awards Party from 6-9pm at the American Mountaineering Center (AMC) in Golden.  On February 4, 2012, we will hold the 2011 Cross Awards Party from 6-9pm at the same location.   Thanks to Kathy Judson of IC3 for her incredible volunteer work with these events!

We are working out the details for our 2011 Fall Promoter Meeting (in which we will work on the 2012 road schedule).  Stay tuned for a time and place announcement.

The ACA can do more to support beginning senior racers, both men and women.  We'd like to hear your suggestions about:

1) a 2012 Women's Summit, and

2) a SM 4 and SM 35+ Cat 4 mentoring program at select criteriums in 2012.

Dates for these senior development programs will be determined as we develop the 2012 schedule. Stay tuned for more details, and thanks in advance for your contributions.

2011 Cross Cup Policy

Last month, our 2011 Cross Committee met to work out details for cross policy that had been suggested at the 2011 Cross Promoters Meeting in February.  Suggestions and improvements were agreed upon for the upcoming cross season.

Here is the 2011 Cross Cup Policy.

ACA Partnerships

The ACA is very fortunate to have the support of the local cycling and business communities.  Please support these people and companies who are part of the ACA.  Contact me if you are interested in partnering with us - we can work together to improve cycling in Colorado and help your business grow.

The Timing System

Please note that the timing system will be in use at all upcoming BAR/BAT and Cross Cup Races. For cross, chips will NOT be mounted on your bicycle.  We have ankle straps that hold your chip, and these straps will be distributed, one strap per racer at no charge, at cross races in September and October.  Please stay tuned for details on this distribution.
