Notes From Yvonne
Your Membership Coordinator

- Cross season is just around the corner. If you know someone who is planning on purchasing a license for the upcoming cross season, don't let them wait. Just like road season they will not be available at races. Make sure you and your friends have your license before the first race you plan on attending.

- DO NOT FORGET that your 2009 cyclocross racing age is essentially your 2010 road racing age. This is designed to be in line with USAC/UCI regulations regarding cyclocross age.
Race Surveys
HART Crit

If you raced the Primal/HART Criterium please take a very short survey for that event by visiting the link below.
BCR/BCT
It's almost time for cross! You can currently find the BCR/BCT race schedule by clicking here. You can also find the BCR/BCT policy here.

Just a reminder, NO Junior BCR/BCT at the Frisco races as this is during the Junior Cross Camp.
Junior Cross Camp JR wmn WOT
Junior Cross Camp is coming on October 2nd, 3rd and 4th. Camp will be at Alexander Dawson school just North of Lafayette. Don't miss it, former Olympian and ACA board member Ann Trombley will be the head coach this year along with numerous other trusty assistants. You can find out more and register by clicking here.

New Junior Development Postion Approved and Filled

ZakG
The ACA Board Of Directors voted at their last meeting to add a new staff internship position that will solely focus on Junior Development.  A search had already begun for a candidate with a background in Colorado junior racing as well as strong communication and organizational skills.

We are proud to announce Colorado School of Mines student Zak Grabowski as the ACA Junior Development Coordinator effective October 1st. Look for Zak at Junior Cross camp as well as some of the administrative meetings this fall. You'll also be able to see him fly by in a few select cross races as well!
Legislation and Elections

It's that time of year again, time to start think about legislation for the following year. If you have any legislation you would like to see on the ballot for the Annual Meeting please send it to execdir@americancycling.org. There will be a series of meetings for members starting in late September to discuss the tentative legislation and potential policy changes for 2010. Stay tuned to the coming edition of the ACA News Mail for more details.

Also on tap for this fall, 5 of 10 seats on the ACA Board of Directors will be up for election/re-election. If you or someone you know would like to take a more active voluntary role in the association please consider running for the board. A good starting place would be talking with some our current board members about their experience on the board. You can find a list of their contact information by clicking here. Interested individuals can also contact the ACA office at execdir@americancycling.org.

A closing comment:

Cycling is currently a very hot topic for several counties in the metro area. There could be some legislation discussed and presented in the coming months that could have a drastic affect on where you are able to ride you bike and just as important, where and when special events (like bike races) can be held. Please consider the following;

- Join Bicycle Colorado as they are the single most important advocacy group for cycling in the state of Colorado

- Join your local cycling advocacy group, such as Bike Denver, Bike Longmont, Community Cycles in Boulder, and Bike Fort Collins. These types of groups focus on cycling in your community.

- Stay informed, get involved and make your voice heard!

That's all for now, see you at the races,
