Greetings!
Over the past few years the road season has usually begun to wind down at this point. This year we still have a minimum of 4 solid weekends of racing left.
There's a lot of information in this issue so pay attention and make sure you don't miss anything important! |
Upcoming Weekend Races
Come out and race the Raisin Hope Criterium at the CSP Track on Table Mountain for a good cause on Saturday, August 15th! Saul Raisin, former pro cyclist with Credit Agricole, founded the Raisin Hope Foundation after his career-ending crash in 2006. Saturday's race benefits Colorado's own Craig Hospital. Meet Saul Raisin at the Craig Hospital tent at the center of the track. Saul will be presenting prizes and adding 'color' to the announcer booth. Wahoo's meals available for $5. Registration is $25 of ACA licensed racers. See the flyer for more details.
Sunday is the Senior State Criterium Championships at the Niwot Criterium. Registration is available online by clicking here. The Niwot Crit is a great small town race that is spectator friendly, fast and fun. Don't miss it!
Stay tuned for more information on the HART Criterium. DFT p/b TREADS is promoting the female side of racing at the HART criterium on August 23. We've structured the race schedule in such a way as to give (Virtually) every women's category two chances to race, plus hefty prize lists and payouts so no one goes home empty-handed!!
-The SW3's can race twice and will have pack primes in the P/1/2/3 race.
-The SW4's will have pack primes so even if they are racing with the 3's they will still be raking in the prizes.
-The 35+/45+ ladies can race twice (if they are P/1/2/3).
-The Course is not technical (except for one corner), is closed to traffic, and wide open!
-We'll also have a female announcer on the mic with HART's hilarious Jordan Sher to keep things entertaining and fun.

Notes From Yvonne
Your Membership Coordinator
- Cross season is just around the corner. If you know someone who is planning on purchasing a license for the upcoming cross season, don't let them wait. Just like road season they will not be available at races. Make sure you and your friends have your license before the first race you plan on attending.
- Remember that state champions are the highest place resident of Colorado with an ANNUAL license at a state championship event. If you won a state championship and did not pick up your prize or think you may have won a title, please check in with Yvonne, yvangent@earthlink.net .

Legislation and Elections
It's that time of year again, time to start think about legislation for the following year. If you have any legislation you would like to see on the ballot for the Annual Meeting please send it to execdir@americancycling.org. There will be a series of meetings for members starting in late September to discuss the tentative legislation and potential policy changes for 2010. Stay tuned to the coming edition of the ACA News Mail for more details.
Also on tap for this fall, 5 of 10 seats on the ACA Board of Directors will be up for election/re-election. If you or someone you know would like to take a more active voluntary role in the association please consider running for the board. A good starting place would be talking with some our current board members about their experience on the board. You can find a list of their contact information by clicking here. Interested individuals can also contact the ACA office at execdir@americancycling.org.

A closing comment:
Cycling is currently a very hot topic for several counties in the metro area. There could be some legislation discussed and presented in the coming months that could have a drastic affect on where you are able to ride you bike and just as important, where and when special events (like bike races) can be held. Please consider the following;
- Join Bicycle Colorado as they are the single most important advocacy group for cycling in the state of Colorado
- Stay informed, get involved and make your voice heard!

That's all for now, see you at the races,
