Greetings!
Welcome to the post "tax day" edition of the News Mail. Racing has experienced a few weather related setbacks so far in April, let's keep our fingers crossed that we get lucky with the current storm and that it's time to get down to bike racing! |
Upcoming Races
Coming up this weekend is the Haystack Time Trials brought to you by GS Boulder. Make sure to Register ONLINE to streamline your race day. Please note that GS Boulder and their chief referee are responsible for the status of the race with the current weather situation. An e-mail will be sent if the status of the race changes.
Also coming up this weekend is Subaru Spring Classic on Sunday. This the first mass start BAR/BAT race of the year and will likely have some large fields as a result. Arrive early to make sure you get in!
As usual, the weather is adding to the challenge of spring racing in Colorado. Get out and test your springtime racing legs! |
| New ACA Website Update
Testing is scheduled to begin next week prior to transferring our membership data to our new website. BAR/BAT will not be tabulated for 2009 on the old site. Overall BAR/BAT results will be available on the new site once the races that have occurred prior to launch have been entered into the new results database. |
| ACA Junior Road Camp
Junior road camp will be held from May 15th through May 17th in Longmont, CO at the St Vrain Memorial Building. Food services will be catered by The Hidden Cafe. | Colorado Mini Classic
The Colorado Mini Classic is a small revival of the Mini Classic series of the 80's and early 90's. It is a road stage race for JUNIORS ONLY. The intent is to provide these enthusiastic competitors a highlight for their season where junior racing is the "main event".
Racing will start on Saturday, May 30th at the Case Logic / Thule area at hwy 52 and 119. First up will be a short but technical prologue time trial for everyone followed by a criterium later in the day. Racing continues the following day, May 31st, on hwy 128 between McCaslin and hwy 93 with a closed course road race of rolling hills on part of the famed Morgul Bismark course. Stay tuned as more details are made final and other non-racing events are added to the weekend in an effort to create a truly special weekend of racing for juniors. |
Raisin Hope 2009
In 2006, Saul Raisin was climbing the professional ranks of the cycling world when a crash stopped his progress and almost took his life. Miraculously, Saul survived a traumatic brain injury. Today, Saul speaks to many types of corporate, military and athletic groups telling his inspiring story. Since his accident, no doctor will clear Saul to ride professionally but that doesn't diminish Saul's competitive spirit. Recently, Saul completed the New York marathon and a half Iron Man with stunning results. His goal is to complete the Iron Man in Hawaii this year. Saul will be in Denver from August 7th to the 16th of 2009, raising funds for Craig Hospital. If you would like to request Saul to speak during this week, please call Alice Brown at 303.956.6527. If you would like to contact Saul directly, please access his website www.raisinhope.ning.com.
