New ACA Website Coming in 2009!!
After some drastic changes during 2008 the ACA Board of Directors has decided to continue developing and improving services for members. ACA has contracted with Boulder based Insight Designs to develop an entirely new website from the ground up. Both groups are looking forward to the challenge in front of them. Insight's Nico Toutenhoofd stated, "I'm very excited about this project as I am also a regular user of the ACA's website. The ACA staff is looking forward to improved management of the membership database and ease of maintaining the site. Phase 1 will last for 6-8 weeks when an entirely new database structure will be developed as the platform to built on for the foreseeable future. All current features will be available when phase 1 of the project is complete. The new ACA site administrator, Keith Nordstrom, will be filling two roles during this time frame as the ACA liaison to Insight Designs and doing everything he can to keep the current site functioning properly. In all likelihood, some 2008 site features may not be fully operational in 2009 until the new site is available. Phase 2 of the project will take and additional 6-8 weeks. This phase will include online account management for individual members and clubs. It will include license sales and membership renewals. Additional administrative features will also be included with this phase. Member should see no visible changes while this phase is under construction. We hope the ACA membership tolerates some of the potential short-term issues as we work diligently to expand our membership services during the next few months. |
First 09 Races
The Frostbite TT kicked off the ACA racing season on March 7th. At left is junior racer Jessica Way, the first official competitor of the 2009 ACA season. Frostbite did not live up to it's name and was a fun first day of racing.
The past few weeks have seen some fast paced fitness checks at the Leaving 99 Criterium series. A small hill makes this race a good test of your early season racing form. There are two more editions on the 28 and 4/4. See their website for results, overall standings and info. |
Survey Underway
The ACA is currently conducting a survey of you, the members, with Boulder Sport's Research. We are currently in the first and largest phase of the survey. This is an invitation based web survey. If you have not received the survey, please contact Jeremy at Boulder Sports Research ( jeremy@bouldersportsresearch.com). Please make sure to include your ACA license number. The survey will continue with more focused research on some of our new categories and the factors affecting race participation. |
Koppenburg....
This Sunday brings one of the more unique races of the year, the Koppenburg! The short, steep dirt climb is well know and feared by many. It's the first race in the Tour of Colorado as well. See the link to the right for more info on this independent overall race series . You can find more info about the Koppenburg at www.boulderracing.com. |
Mechanics and Motors
Our Mechanics program will be holding a clinic on Thursday the 26. The meeting will be at the REI downtown starting at 7p. It will cover some basic tools, wheels, some scenario's and how to's. A test for becoming a certified ACA mechanic will be given. These mechanics staff many of the pits at our BAR/BAT races. For more information contact Rich Visscher at yetirich@yahoo.com
There will also be a clinic/test for new and current motor Referees at 9 am, Saturday the 28th at the Leaving 99 Criterium. These important individuals put countless hours in a different kind of saddle to ensure our races are safe and fair. Please contact Yvonne at yvangent@earthlink.net for more information |
It has been a warm and mild winter. I see a lot of racers pretty fit for March. As we move forward with the racing season, don't forget that we have many great events that take place 4 to 5 months from now, including the new Steamboat Stage Race on Labor Day weekend. Your participation is what keeps racing going. We have a lot of races that need you motivated and ready to go a few months down the road. Keeping the racing season in perspective is never a bad idea.
See you at the races,
