As you may know, I was one of several attorneys who went to DC during the month of February to lobby for a new bill that is currently before Congress: the Helping Families Save Their Homes in Bankruptcy Act of 2009. While financial institutions are privy to bailout funds, families across the country are increasingly facing the prospect of losing their homes.
This act would help millions of homeowners by:
1. Allowing Bankruptcy judges to renegotiate loan terms for homeowners who have filed a Chapter 13 Bankruptcy;
2. Assisting in stopping the downward spiral in home values and the destabilization of our economy--which affects us all.
