The Community Garden Center @ Pinder's Nursery wants you to know that Phil may just have a point . . .
Greetings!
Okay, so Punxatawny Phil has returned to his hole to snuggle down for six more weeks of winter. He probably is on to something there. With rainy days and cool nights, we are in the midst of winter--Florida Winter that is. While wave after wave of wet weather ushers in another bout of cool nights, we are still enjoying day-time highs near 80 degrees on some days! Lots of folks are confused about what to do. I say, just get outdoors! There is no better way to shake off the winter chill than by the inspiration one gains from a spring garden festival. tour, or party--And there are several coming up for you to enjoy. Here is a quick overview of the first few. Follow
this link to access the calendar page at our website for full information on all the upcoming events.
Today (February 6th), there is a groovy little fest called the
Growing Green Festival aimed at helping you nudge your way toward greener living. There will be demonstrations and vendors with all sorts of lessons to share. We will be there with lots of ideas for responsible gardening and sustainable living, featuring Daddy-O's Edibles --herbs, vegetables and fruit. The FREE festival runs from noon til five and will be immediately followed by a screening of
DIRT! The Movie.
Next weekend there will be two festivals: one at the
Port St. Lucie Botanical Garden and another at the
Savannas State Park . The former is a very exciting Garden Fest--emphasis on
GARDEN. We will be offering this year's designs for our Plant Life packaged gardens. We will have a design for sun, one for shade and one for butterflies. The assortment of plants comes with a planting plan to ensure your garden success, and the special value pricing is easy on your budget.
The Savannas Sweetheart Festival makes for a great date: a lovely stroll with your dear one through the glorious natural surroundings of the Savannas (oh! the birds you will see!), perhaps a blanket and a basket of nosh to share, capped off with the chance to shop with local vendors, artisans and crafters for just the right momento to mark this day when Love Rules! Of course we will be there with some unique living jewels to enjoy together. Nothing like investing in a little piece of creation to honor the committment of two lovers.
Garden inspiration comes in like a Lion and keeps going strong throughout the month of March with the
Home and Garden Show sponsored by the Stuart/Martin County Chamber of Commerce on the 6th & 7th. Also in March there will be two Garden Club-sponsored Garden Tours and on the 27th & 28th enjoy the FREE Garden Expo at the Martin County Fair Grounds! if you are planning on enjoying the
Secret Garden Tour coordinated by The Garden Club of Stuart that weekend, consider buying your tickets in advance at The Community Garden Center. All tickets purchsed at our place will include an invite to a ticket-holders-only special Night of Bliss the evening of March 27th. We also have tickets for Through the Garden Gate: A First Step Into the First Day of Spring. This tour, held March 20th, is put together by the Rio Lindo Garden Club of Port St. Lucie, in this their 50th Anniversary Year!
Don't even get me started on April!
Yep, there is much to look forward to as this winter turns to spring. We have plenty planned to celebrate the season of the garden here at Pinder's too! This month's Evening Garden Bliss Will be held February 25th, beginning at 5:30pm. We will be featuring ideas for creating a Winter Haven for birds in your back yard. If you missed the really awesome article by Marilyn Bauer in the Stuart News,
check it out here. Marilyn has truly captured the essence of what Marvin & I call our Evening Bliss. Plus we are planning some Make-N-Take Container Garden workshops as well as an exercise in repotting orchids. Visit our calendar page at
