Coordinator's Message
Remember to turn your clocks FORWARD ONE HOUR before going to bed Saturday night.

The devastating tornadoes that ripped through the country has parishioners wanting to lend a helping hand!  Amy Wiginton has been in touch with Fr. Steve Schaftlein, pastor of St. Francis Xavier Parish in Henryville, IN. They need our help desperately.  We have a short window of time to help them right now. There is an article in this weekends bulletin in Fr. John's column about how we can help. You can also read more by clicking here to open the attachment with more information.  Let us continue to live in the spirit of St. Francis Xavier and be of help.  Donations can also be dropped off with your child at Religious Ed either Sunday or next Wednesday. Thanks!

Registration packets for the next academic year
went home with the youngest/only child in your family on Sunday, March 4 and Wednesday, March 7. Please look for the packet.  I suggest you read through the information and return your registration BEFORE registration is open to new families on March 19.

Please try to foresee your child(ren's) schedule as much as possible before registering.  It is extremely difficult to make changes once classes are formed.

Families with outstanding tuition for the 2011-2012 school year are asked to make full payment before registering for the new school year.  Please send payment to the RE Office or Rectory as soon as possible. Contact me if you need more time before full payment is made. A call or email with a date when payment will be in by will allow you to register for the next school year on time. Thank you.

As always, please drive slowly and carefully on parish grounds and on the neighboring streets when children are arriving and dismissing from class. Thanks for your help in keeping our children safe.

Fourth Grade Reconciliation
The fourth graders of our parish are celebrating the Sacrament of Reconciliation with their parents this weekend.  Families are asked to keep to their scheduled prayer service.

Third Grade Reconciliation
The third graders will celebrate Reconciliation during class time on Sunday, March 11 and Wednesday, March 14.

Child Lures Program
RE Classes are scheduled to have the Threats and Weapons Lure Lesson this month. This lesson is part of the Child Lures Program which is part of the Protecting God's Children Program. The lesson is not threatening but informative and will reinforce what you already teach your children.  Only about 10-15 minutes of class time will be spent on the topic. Catechists will stress that: threats and weapons are against the law and must be reported immediately to a trusted adult and police.  If confronted with a  weapon, children should scream loudly and run to safety.  Please ask your child(ren) to talk to you about what they will hear in class.

Franciscan Outreach Drive
The 5th Grade Service Project for RE Students is underway.  A flyer went home to each family telling you want kinds of  personal care products are needed. You can download another copy from the ATTACHMENT section of this News Bulletin Please help them with this drive.  Items can be turned in until March 18 and March 21 (last class date before Spring/Easter Break).  Thank you for your contributions in prior years to this cause.  St. Francis Xavier Parish has established a relationship with Franciscan Outreach Ministry over the last several years.

Operation Rice Bowl
The children in RE all received Operation Rice Bowl Banks.  The practice of prayer/fasting/almsgiving is asked of all of us during the Season of Lent.  The children will be encouraged to fill their bank with money that they would have spent on something that they are able to do without. This is also a good family project/practice during lent.  Children/families will have most of lent to work on this.  Contributions need to be in by March 18 and March 21 (last day of class before Spring/Easter Break). Thanks for modeling this practice with your children/family.

Catechist Appreciation Fund
Everyone should have received a mailing from the Religious Ed Advisory Board asking for donations to the Catechist/Volunteer Appreciation Fund. A copy of that correspondence can be found in the ATTACHMENT section of this News Bulletin. Our Program could not happen without the countless hours of preparation time and classroom time that our catechists and volunteers give to the children. Your contribution to this fund provides an opportunity to give them a small monetary gift of thanks. Thank you in advance for your support of this fund.  Our goal is $7000. As of today, $6005 has been contributed to this fund!
Thanks!
