Coordinator's Message Children who come to RE Class on Wednesday have next Wednesday, February 29 off. Happy Leap Year Day!
I hope the start of Lent has been good for you and your family. Please take notice of Lenten Practices found in the parish bulletin. You can also click on the Parish Website with the Quick Links to the left of this message to open up the most recent bulletin. Registration for the next academic year will happen in early March. Families with outstanding tuition for the 2011-2012 school year are asked to make full payment before registration opens in a few weeks. Please send payment to the RE Office as soon as possible. Contact me if you need more time before full payment is made. Please disregard a notice if notice and your payment cross. Thank you.
As always, please drive slowly and carefully on parish grounds and on the neighboring streets when children are arriving and dismissing from class. Thanks for your help in keeping our children safe.
Operation Rice Bowl The children went home on Wednesday and will be going home on Sunday with Operation Rice Bowl Banks. The practice of prayer/fasting/almsgiving is asked of all of us during the Season of Lent. The children will be encouraged to fill their bank with money that they would have spent on something that they are able to do without. This is also a good family project/practice during lent. Children/families will have most of lent to work on this. Contributions need to be in by March 18 and March 21 (last day of class before Spring/Easter Break). Thanks for modeling this practice with your children/family.
Eucharistic Prep Liturgy
Children who are preparing to receive their First Communion in May will gather for another Prep Liturgy at 1:30pm on Sunday, Feb. 26. Children who attend RE on Sunday mornings still have class on that day. Please call the RE Office 352-4555 by Feb. 24 if you are in need of using our babysitting service during the Prep Liturgies. There will also be a TRUNK SHOW that day. A flyer went home to all of the girls. A copy of the flyer is attached to this News Bulletin in the ATTACHMENTS section to the left.
8th Grade Retreat Parents received a letter regarding the upcoming 8th grade retreat via an email yesterday, Feb. 23. Please look for it and take note of the attention that it needs. The 8th grade Retreat is scheduled during class time on March 4 and March 7. Catechist Appreciation Fund Everyone should have received a mailing from the Religious Ed Advisory Board asking for donations to the Catechist/Volunteer Appreciation Fund. Our Program could not happen without the countless hours of preparation time and classroom time that our catechists and volunteers give to the children. Your contribution to this fund provides an opportunity to give them a small monetary gift of thanks. Thank you in advance for your support of this fund. Our goal is $7000. As of today, $2500 has been contributed to this fund! Thanks!
