Coordinator's Message

 Happy New Year!

May 2012 be healthy and peace-filled for ALL!

I hope you were able to make many happy memories with family and friends during the holiday season.

Upon our return to class on Wednesday, January 11 and Sunday, January 15, the students in grades 2-8 will receive their evaluation for the first semester.  Please ask you child to show you their evaluation.

There are times when parents need to come in to the RE Office on a Sunday morning to sign their child(ren) out early for any given reason.  You are asked NOT to park your car in the driving exit lane next to the cones.  Parking your car there makes it difficult for families who are leaving the 9:00 Mass to leave the parking lot.  Please find a parking spot and then come in to the building.  Thank you for your cooperation with this request.

Prophetic Planning

The third and final Prophetic Planning Retreat Weekend is here!  Please consider joing us for any portion of this planning.  The session this evening is from 6:00-9:30pm and again tomorrow morning from 9:00-1:00pm.  both session are in Joyce Hall.  You can enter thru the Waiola Doors.   The second draft of our Five Year Plan will be reviewed and we will move forward with a Vision Statement.  I hope to see you one or both days.

First Eucharist Preparation

Please note the attachment letter to parents who have a child preparing to receive First Eucharist in May.  The first Prep Liturgy is scheduled for  this Sunday, January 8 at 1:30 pm in church. Specifics are found in the letter. A hard copy was mailed to you on December 21.
All of the children preparing to receive their First Communion in May in both The Religious Ed Program and in the Day School will begin formal preparation next week.  Your child will be going home with a large envelope containing a resource for parents titled, TOGETHER, to be used with your child.

4th Grade Reconciliation
Fourth Grade Children in both Religious Ed and Day School will focus on the Sacrament of Reconciliaiton beginning next week, as they prepare for their private celebration of this sacrament. The children will be going home with a large envelope which contains a resource for parents titled TOGETHER. Please make use of this resource.  A letter regarding the start of their study was recently put in the mail to you.  You can also find an attached copy in the attachment section of this news bulletin.

School Reach
As you know, the Religious Ed Program has, once again, contracted School Reach to contact parents and families when it is necessary to call for emergency closings or for any other unforseen reason(s).

Advent Mission Project
The children in our RE Program helped to raise money for Taller de Jose, a community resource center offering accompaniment to people in need, connecting people to services and services to people.  As a sponsored ministry of the Congregation of St. Joseph, Taller de Jose exists so that all may be one. A check for $186.41 was sent to this worthy organization in the name of Religious Ed Students.  Thank you for encouraging your child to donate their loose coins!
