| Rotary Definition | |
Rotary is an organization of business and professional persons united worldwide who provide humanitarian service, encourage high ethical standards in all vocations and help build good will and peace in the world. |
| Our Mission | |
"Doing good in the World is more than a motto. It is our goal, our mission, and our reminder. It expresses in the clearest terms why we have a Foundation, and it challenges us to reach as far as we can to do the most good possible with everything we have. Our Foundation exisits to support the good that we can do through Rotary. It expands our reach, increases our strength, and makes our service more powerful and more effective. Because of our Foundation we can, very simple, do more of our Rotary work."
2004-2005

| SARGEANT AT ARMS, Phil Hardas | | |
There was $241 in the 50/50 with 46 cards left in the deck. The Ace of clubs was pulled by our speaker, Jeff Weinacht.
Happy Bucks: Rich Knebel was happy that St. Rose's 8th grade girls volleyball team won their division this year.
Bob Luitjohan is happy that his wife has been married to the 'man of her dreams' for 33 years. This statement was apparently documented on Facebook.
Phil Hardis is happy that business is good (and as it turns out that way he didn't have to pay a fine)
Phil fined all the 'grumps' who weren't happy $1.00 each. |
| PROGRAM: Pulse Fitness - Jeff Weinacht | | |
Dr. Bob Hellige sponsored this speaker. Jeff owns Pulse Fitness located in the same building on broadway with Bob's dental office. He has his degree in Physical Education from Eastern Illinois University and is a certified trainer through NASM. He grew up here in Highland and has been working as a trainer for 4 years and for the past 12 months has had his studio on Broadway.
He discussed the fact that we often forget fitness is not just about weight loss. It's about getting your heart healthy. The average age for heart attack is only 46 years old and 2/3 of the heart attacks are suffered by Women.
In addition to helping people exercise and train, he works with people on re-learning or increasing their Activities of Daily Living. He took several questions and had the following answers:
- Yes, Don Johannes did skip his training appointment this morning, but typically having a trainer helps keep you committed to working out (sorry, Don, we know you had a good excuse but couldn't resist mentioning it just one more time!)
- Running is good for you if you can don't have any knee injuries. Some think it's too high impact, but it's an excellent workout and the impact actually increases bone density. If you have injuries or difficulty with high impact, the ellipical machine can be a good choice.
- Flexibility and Balance are important to continuing to be active and remaining injury free for life.
- Per Bob H, 'getting up off the couch' is the hardest part of any work out'. But once you do it, you're glad you did.
- A trainer does help you keep accountable and Jeff will see people by appointment and he does small group workouts as well. He sees quite a few couples who work out together with him.
- Cross training is excellent, but you should work out at a level that's appropriate to you, especially if you're old like Kevin D (60??). Seriously, a variety of workout is best because after 6 weeks of doing the same thing, your body gets accustomed to it. Jeff varies workouts each time he sees a client.
