Rotary Definition

Rotary is an organization of business and professional persons united worldwide who provide humanitarian service, encourage high ethical standards in all vocations and help build good will and peace in the world.

Our Mission

"Doing good in the World is more than a motto.  It is our goal, our mission, and our reminder.  It expresses in the clearest terms why we have a Foundation, and it challenges us to reach as far as we can to do the most good possible with everything we have.  Our Foundation exisits to support the good that we can do through Rotary.  It expands our reach, increases our strength, and makes our service more powerful and more effective.  Because of our Foundation we can, very simple, do more of our Rotary work."

2004-2005

  • On November 25th, our club will be handing out "Rotary Christmas Bags" at the Christmas Parade in Highland.  The bags will consist of an orange, a candy cane, and a flyer for the orange sales.  We will have a booth and will need volunteers to prepare bags and to hand them out!
  • Orange Sales are coming - Please mark your calendars and plan to participate in the orange sales on December 2-4 at WalMart.  These sales produce funds for the general budget to allow the club to partner with other organizations to serve Highland; such as the Highland Area Christian Service Ministry building investment.  A flyer for these orange sales in now available at the club website at www.highlandrotary.org
  • Extra, Extra, Read all about it - Our club's fellowship event is on December 13th, Tuesday night at the KC Hall.  It will be a JOLLY GOOD TIME, you don't want to miss.  Mark you calendars and come out and enjoy some Popeye's!
  • We have received an invite to the Ribbon Cutting ceremony at Silver Lake for the new boat ramp on November 27th at 2pm. We supported Josh Case in order to accomplish his eagle scout project.  There will be a reception follwing the ribbon cutting at Highland Middle School.
  • Bank of America is offering a way to raise funds for our local club and for the foundation towards polio eradication.  For ever approved online application from our members, the club will receive a $50 donation as well as a $75 donation to the foundation.  Each purcahse made with the card will earn the foundation an additional .25%.  The cardholder will also receive 1% cashback on purchases.  Contact Maura if you would like more information.

PROGRAM: Dr. Patricia Wolf, Medica Mamba

Dr. Wolf retired from her practice and teaching at Wash U and is now working full time to provide relief for many of the humantarian issues Hatians face, including malnutrition and healthcare.  With the creation of medica mamba, like peanut butter, the local were able to get the nutrition they need as well as discovered a way to sustain their life by learning to grow peanuts to make the product.  Over the last 2 years, over 28,000 children have been saved through her services.

She has worked diligently to expand her vision to not only reach Haiti but to provide the Medica Mamba to other relief services to be distributed globally.  She has been stateside raising funds to build a new factory in order to accomplish this.  The cost for the factory is $3 million dollars and currently she has raised $2million.
