Rotary Definition

Rotary is an organization of business and professional persons united worldwide who provide humanitarian service, encourage high ethical standards in all vocations and help build good will and peace in the world.

Our Mission

"Doing good in the World is more than a motto.  It is our goal, our mission, and our reminder.  It expresses in the clearest terms why we have a Foundation, and it challenges us to reach as far as we can to do the most good possible with everything we have.  Our Foundation exisits to support the good that we can do through Rotary.  It expands our reach, increases our strength, and makes our service more powerful and more effective.  Because of our Foundation we can, very simple, do more of our Rotary work."

2004-2005

    • Holli was happy to have acheived the "longest drive" for the golf tournament in Carlyle for Rotary over the weekend.

Fines: Phil fined those who did not admit or were not wearing a thong today - really below the belt!

PROGRAM: Rick Davidson, "Jamaica Dental Project"

Dr. McCloud is the doctor who is from Jamica and who host the teams who travel the Jamacia.  He went to school on the mountain there where one of the clinics are hosted.

4 Grants totaling $64,000 to this project for the Dental Mission Project and literacy project (there were 7 local clubs, 2 districts, and Rotary International that partnered together to make this happen).  Rotary clubs in Jamacia are also involved in the project and sponsor the school (60x100 concrete block building).

They set up 3 Jamaica Dental Mission & Wellness Centers, 2 in Montego Bay and 1 on top of the mountain.  These clinics are staffed with students from universities, dental and medical staff, international dental professionals, and retired dentists.  All medical personel pay their own way and work 10-11 day.  They provide safe, sanitary environments for their clinics.

In 2010, they saw almost 1339 people (exams, flourieds, sealants, scalings, extractions, fillings).  He stated that there is a lot of sugar cane there and that if they are hungry and do not have a lot of resources they eat sugar cane.

One of the most rewarding parts is that it truly changes a person's life by having a full month of healthy teeth.

He feels that there is sustainability to this project because it falls into so many areas of service and focus areas from Rotary International.
