| PROGRAM: Dawn Mushill, Owner Customer Service & Beyond: Time Management Tips for the Real World | | |
Dawn shared her Top 13 ways to assist with effective Time Management
- Learn to say "no" Don't spend time doing things that you do want to do but respectfully decline to stay on mission
- Manage your time on the telephone: Guard your time with long winded talkers by helping them get to the point and having an escape plan
- Set up a calendar system: use the plan you feel comfortable with but USE it
- Sit down with a clear head: Schedule your time when you think the best
- Look for time wasters: Find what waste your time and limit it
- Minimize socialization at work: How much time is spent doing this?
- Make a daily log: Plan your time; plan your meals ahead of time; take out the thinking of daily or weekly tasks by planning ahead
- Deal with personal issues on personal time: Takes away from work/keeps you leap/ can't do anything about them at work anyways
- Observe other successful time managers: Find someone who does it right/mentor you
- Arrive early or stay late: great uninterrupted time
- Understand the value of your time: Pretend you are work $300/hour
- Small scale planning: keep plans small and measurable
- To do list - priortized: put priorties on top
Other thoughts provided were to only touch an item once - deal with it instead of stack it, limit negative influences in your life, and schedule time for you so that the rest of life is balanced.
