Group Study Exchange Team is going to Peru this year.  GSE offers opportunity for young adults to develope  professional and leadership skills to better meet their communities needs in a global workspace.  Former GSE team members Mike Ammann and Fred Singelton.

 Guests: Franziska Sagurna (Rotary Exchange Student) along with host family Missy Zobrist and her daughters Jessica and Allison, Ernie Calvin all the way from Scottsdale, AZ.
ANNOUNCEMENTS
  • School supplies are needed for the HACSM.  A hat was passed and $270 was collected for the purchase of 25 calculators  Great Job!

COMMUNITY SERVICE - Kevin Dewaele
  • Comunity Project - August 14 & 15 Mark Frey will assist rotary in building a ramp and laying sidewalk for a grandmother taking care of her grandson in a wheelchair.  Need 5-6 guys to assist.
  • Dick Aten will also head a group to clean Troxler Road on Saturday at 9am.

 Mark Korte thanked all the Rotarians for their help.  There was a complete field of golfers this year that allowed each benefactor to receive $1900.
 
  • Julie Korte, Principal Highland Primary: Funds will go to a program called Response to Intervention (RTI) that helps students who are falling behind.
  • Officer Conrad, Highland Police Department DARE Program: Program funds drug prevention.  Matt Story will be the new DARE officer starting this fall. 
  • Lisa Henrichs, Meals on Wheels: Currently serving over 40 clients. Rotary funds will help to keep the price of meals reduced.
  • Randy Schorfheide, St. Joseph's Hospital Friend's Van: Free transportation service providing 2500 rides annually for about 15,000 miles.  Currently cost about $2.50/mile to operate this service.
