PROGRAM

BIG BROTHERS AND SISTERS OF SWIL
BARBARA CEMPURA & JOE BLANCHARD

The program started in 1980 and last year, matched almost 1000 children with an adult.  They serve 4 counties including St. Clair, Madison, Monroe, and Clinton.

Volunteers meet once a week with youngsters and normally 2-3 hours a week.  Volunteers should not be a recreational director.  The kids are looking for volunteers to spend time with them and teach them some daily activities.  They are about forming one to one relationships with the kids.  Parents or teachers refer kids to the program.

Applications are accepted for girls, ages 6-14 yrs old and boys ages 7-14 years old.  They stay in the program until they are 18 years old.
