ANNOUNCEMENTS
Next Week's Meeting - Will be held at the Korte Company.

Car Raffle -   364 tickets have already been sold, so we're doing very well, but don't let that slow you down!  Our third Early Bird Drawing was held with the winner being Dave Rehkemper and the "Bacon Bunch".

COMMUNITY SERVICE - Jan Brinker
Our grand total, for 2008-2009 is....6,800 community service hours.  Not quite the 10,000, but still a great effort!
Upcoming service opportunities:

Farmer's Market - Each Thursday,  the Highland "Market und Mehr" (Farmer and Artisan market) continues at Lindendale Park.   Deanna Harlan (531-5111) needs help setting signs for Farmer's Market.  More help is needed on July 16th to help with traffic flow because of the coinciding swim meet.

Pregnancy Care Center - Is in need of a committee to help with the "Walk for Life" that will be coming up in October.

Relay for Life - Is needing golf cart drivers to shuttle survivors and elderly from HHS School to the HHS Track, they also need  help with set up on Thursday night, July 9, contact Mark Reaka for more information.

Be sure and let Jan know all the service hours you put in...remember we have a goal of 10,000 hours. To find out more info on any of the above areas to volunteer email Jan Brinker at jan_korte_brinker @yahoo.com.

PROGRAM

Bill Sullivan - The BS Presidency in Review!

Accomplishments for the 2008 - 2009 Year
"Involvement Inspires"

* Service Hours increased from 4,009 to 6,800 community service hours - that's about a 70% increase over last year!
* Two new host families for the Rotary Exchange - Brian & Linda Jakel and Peter & Angela Kim.  And we also have a new family - Kevin & Suzie Dewaele - for the upcoming year.
* A second Giving Circle was started for the Rotary Foundation
* Two Paul Harris Fellows were named from the community for their service to the youth of Highland.
* We added 12 new members.
* Promoted individual members in the Highland Newsleader to tell the community about the club's diversity and encourage new members.
* Introduced a new newsletter (eFling) format
* Continued with our four main fundraisers: Citrus Sale, Fish Race, Golf Tournament, and Car Raffle.  All of which were very successful this year.
* Renewed our signing abilities with Adrian and Tom.
* Had fun with new programs at our Christmas (Holiday Murder Mystery) and Valentine's (Not-So Newlywed Game) dinners
* Introduced a new location for our weekly meetings (the Highland Country Club) just for a little change of pace.
* Got to know our club members better with the weekly  "180 seconds of Fame!" feature.
* Automated our Administrative system with the Rotary International software.
* Completed the following projects
          -Food Pantry Landscaping
          -Bi-Yearly Food Drive
          -Adopt a Family at Christmas
          -Elba's Orphan's contributions
-Dug a well in the Philippines well in honor of Rotarian, Dick Beckman.
* We introduced a new "International" project within our own borders.  The Literacy project for Critchton Elementary School in West Virginia captured the attention and involvement of Highland and truly proved that our INVOLVEMENT can INSPIRE.

All-in-all it was a great year and Bill thanked all the club members for their support and especially his board for their tireless efforts.

Great job, Highland Rotarians!
