LITERACY PROJECT - Wayne Steiner

04-14-09 Wayne Steiner

Wayne thanked everyone for giving he and Norma the opportunity to experience delivering all the books and equipment. He said it was awesome to see how they responded.  He had a lot of pictures and an article from the Mountain Messenger.  He noted that there was a little boy named Adrain, who he gave "our Adrian's" address  and hopefully we will see some correspondence.  He also noted that our club inspired the local Rotary Club to make sure each child in the elementary school would have a dictionary.....more to come on this later.
COMMUNITY SERVICE - Jan Brinker
Pregnancy Care Center - They are offering childcare seminars at Highland Southern Baptist Church on April 18th and May 16th from 8:30 a.m. - 12:30 and they need volunteer babysitters. They also need volunteer babysitters on April 4th thru May 9th (every Saturday) 10 a.m.-11:30 a.m. at Highland Southern Baptist Church.  If you can help, contact Carrie Adolph at the Pregnancy Care Center.

Be sure and let Jan know all the service hours you put in...remember we have a goal of 10,000 hours. To find out more info on any of the above areas to volunteer email Jan Brinker at jan_korte_brinker @yahoo.com.

Sandy Evans - SNIP Alliance

04-14-09 Sandy Evans

The SNIP Alliance was established in July 2008.  Their mission: to reduce the number of healthy animals destroyed due to pet overpopulation.  Sandy told us their goals  were:  1. To provide low cost spay and neutering, 2. To promote the Illinois Pet Overpopulation Pet Fund and 3. To educate the public on the Health Benefits of having a pet altered.  If you would like to know more you can go to www.snipalliance.org. Thanks Sandy for enlightening us.
