     - Food Pantry Collections - Also remember that Tuesday, February 17th will be day to bring items for the Food Pantry.  Your generousity is greatly appreciated.  If you need some ideas, right now the Food Pantry can particularly use: Chili, Instant Mashed Potatoes, Pork 'n Beans, Carrots, Peaches, and Rice.  Of course any food items and cash are appreciated.

  - Valentine's Dinner - Next week's meeting will be a Valentine's Dinner at the VFW.  Dinner will be catered by Popeye's and the fun all starts at 6:00.  Our entertainment for the evening will be our own version of the (Not So) Newlywed Game.  So plan on joining our own Bob Eubanks as he tests the knowledge of four lucky Rotary couples.  (If you didn't already confirm your attendance at Tuesday's meeting, please give Holli a call and let her know that you'll be coming.)

Rich Federer

Rich Federer was the honoree ( in more ways than one)...He was born and raised in Highland.  His parents, Albert, who was a plumber, and Elizabeth, a homemaker, were also from Highland.   Rich's first job was working at Kinney shoe store.  He was in the army Sept. '48 to Dec. '49 stationed in Italy.  He married Shirley in 1951.  They raised 4 childern, Keith, Peg, Pam and Kerry.  He and Shirley owned and operated Journal Printing, and have since retired.  Wib Schatte sponsored Rich in 1965.  Rich is a past president and district governor.  He has attended 24 International Conventions.  You might say Rotary has been his passion.

PROGRAM

Rich Federer Receives Award

02-03-09 Rich Federer Award

Keith Lape, Chairman of the  District Foundation Committee presented Rich Federer with a citation for meritorious service in recognition of devoted efforts for furthering of better understanding and friendly relations of peoples of the world  from the Rotary Foundation. Keith also read a letter from Bob Stewart to Rich thanking him for his years of service.  Keith noted that only one Rotarian a year in each district is able to receive this award, this award can only be received one time in a lifetime and consideration for the award cannot be made simply on monetary contributions to the Foundation.  Thank you, Rich, for giving so much and being a great example to the rest of us.  Congratulations.
