PROGRAM

Rotary Foreign Exchange Student

01-20-09 Antonia Ibarra

President, Bill Sullivan introduced our youth exchange student, Antonia Ibarra.  Antonia reviewed the history of her country, outlined a few statistics and showed photos of her home city, Santiago.  She talked about when she arrived in the US she was surprised at free beverage refills in restaurants and has especially enjoyed peanut butter, which she told us is almost not available in Chile.   Antonia is a senior at HHS and has graduated from her high school in Aug. 08.  When she returns to her country, she plans to attend college and pursue a career in law.  Antonia has had to adjust to a sizeable population difference between her hometown of Santiago, which has an estimated population of 7 million, and Highland, with about 9,400 residents..."I'm used to the sounds of the city", she said.

Great Program.  Thanks Antonia!
