SONGS
Tom led us in singing "Wait Til the Sun Shines, Nellie" and " Auld Lang Syne".  (Bill questioned Tom as to whether he knew the translation of "Auld Lang Syne" since it was the subject of a fine one year ago. Neither he nor anyone else knew the answer which is "times gone by".  Just another piece of useless trivia!)

PROGRAM
St. Joseph's Hospital

Randy - St. Joes

Randy Schorfheide, Community Relations & Development Director of St. Joseph's Hospital, gave us an update on what the hospital is doing.  He announced that they have a new interim administrator, Dennis Hutchinson.  They also have a new Chief of Nurising, Maxine Johnson, who replaced Nancy Newman after 44 years of service.  The Lab has received the "gold standard" accredidation from CAP.  As of  this year the ER can communicate directly with the EMT vehicles in the field.  As of September 2008 they have standby emergency care for pediactrics.  As of July 2008 they established a Community Health Outreach program, which provides a link between the hospital and the community.  (If the program sounds familiar it is because the director is fellow Rotarian Laura Foerster.)  St. Joseph's Hospital is now the Safe Kids Headquarters in Madison County.  And beginning January 5, they will provide full-time MRI services.  Randy also talked about many of the programs that are being offered at the Hospital, along with the image ad campaign they have in place.  We are very fortunate to have such a "top-notch" hospital.  Thanks, Randy, for keeping us informed.
