ANNOUNCEMENTS
  - Carrie Adolph did a wonderful job putting the Adopt-A-Family together.  With all the generous donations received from the membership, Carrie was able to purchase not only the gifts for the two families (13 people), but also for half of a family that someone else adopted but didn't turn in the gifts.  Thanks for the wonderful support from those of you that were able to give!
- Bill announced that we have a new format for the newsletter.  If for some reason you typically receive the Fling by email and did not last week, please let Bill know so he can update the email list in the new system.  It is more professional looking and easier to read along with some other bells and whistles.  If you forward it to friends or past Rotarians, they have the option to add themselves to the distribution list.
- Wayne Steiner announced that he will be wiring the funds today for the water well project.

PROGRAM
Art in the Park

Lynette Schuepbach spoke about Highland's Art in the Park.  She explained that it is a wonderful way to give the community an opportunity to experience Art without having to travel or spend money.  Something new they added this year was having all the vendors donate a piece of art to be on display and allowing the children to walk through and purchase a piece for $5.  They weren't sure how many of the vendors would go along with the plan, so they also had Peppermint Preschoolers make some drawings which were then framed by Frames by 3 and also made available for sale.  The children ended up purchasing a 135 items, so the addition was considered a success and will be back next year.  Something new for 2009 possibly will involve bringing Sauce Magazine here to display dueling desserts.
