NEWSLETTER
MARCH 2012

Greetings!

Thank you for your continued support of Habitat for Humanity of Greater Los Angeles. We are SPRINGing forward into another exciting season.  Join us by volunteering, advocating or participating in our upcoming events. Learn more below...

WHOLE FOODS COMMUNITY DAY

On Wednesday, April 4, 2012, the Long Beach Whole Foods Market will host a 5% Day to benefit Habitat for Humanity of Greater Los Angeles (HFH GLA). Five percent of the day's net sales will be donated to HFH GLA to support our work in the City of Long Beach. There are no exclusions to this event; whether you buy a loaf of bread or order a catered lunch for a business meeting, your purchases will directly support HFH GLA's Long Beach Neighborhood Revitalization Initiative.

So save your grocery shopping for Wednesday, April 4th, and help build hope, lives and the Long Beach community while picking up your ingredients for dinner!

HFH GLA staff and volunteers will be on hand to say thanks and answer questions. The store is open from 7 AM to 10 PM, and is located at 6550 E. Pacific Coast Highway, Long Beach, CA 90803.

ACT! SPEAK! BUILD! WEEK 2012

BUILDABLE HOURS

This June & July, law firms throughout Los Angeles County will come together for Buildable Hours. This unique program brings together the financial resources of legal employers and the volunteer labor of summer associates and attorneys to rehabilitate a home for a hardworking, low-income partner homeowner.

Participating firms will spend one or more days on a designated construction site in Lynwood, CA. The financial commitment is less than many traditional summer associate activities and allows firms to give back to the Los Angeles community. This unique experience helps staff get to know their summer associates in a different setting, and gives the firm the opportunity to tangibly demonstrate their commitment to public service.

To learn more and to register, please contact Liz Hill, Development Manager, at ehill@habitatla.org!

WANT TO LIVE DEBT FREE?

Change your family tree forever, and

leave a legacy for your kids!

Personal finance expert, Dave Ramsey has helped millions of people realize a debt free life is possible and on April 3rd he is bringing that message to the Redondo Beach Performing Arts Center!  KFWB NEWS TALK 980 will present "An Evening on Family and Money" with Dave Ramsey and his daughter Rachel Cruze and a portion of all ticket sales will be donated to HFH GLA.  If you or anyone you know is interested in attending CLICK HERE !

LENT BUILD

Habitat for Humanity of Greater Los Angeles' (HFH GLA) 2012 Lent Build is off to a great start! Over 15 churches of various sizes and denominations from across Greater Los Angeles are involved through offering prayer, volunteering on our build sites, and making generous donations. They are putting faith into action to serve those in need, just as Jesus and his disciples did 2,000 years ago.

The focus of this year's Lent Build is renovating a home in South Gate and also helping on other HFH GLA projects in Lynwood and Long Beach. A closing celebration ceremony is scheduled for the Saturday after Easter, April 14th.

Anyone interested in getting involved in the final weeks of this year's Lent Build should contact Chris Untiet,
HFH GLA Faith Relations Manager, at
chrisu@habitatla.org.
