Good God Almighty!!!!!! I witnessed something I have never seen in the history of my life. Five weeks ago I received a phone call from the Pastor of First Baptist Texarkana asking me if I would fill in for him while he went to California. A friend of mine who hosts a television program had recommended me. There were no special activities planned, just a "fill in" invitation. It is a great church and the pastor gave me immeasurable liberty--I was excited about the opportunity! During our initial conversation, he told me there were many in his church that were religious--but lost. He asked me to share a portion of my testimony and also encouraged me to not worry about time but to just "let it rip". I was excited about this pastor giving me freedom in his pulpit and about his conviction to reach people who were in his church that were "professing" Christians that did not [possess] Christ. The service Sunday morning is one large gathering of about 2000 people. Before I began, an anointed woman got up to pray. She called down the thunder and lightning!! She asked God to open eyes, hearts and minds to the Gospel. She prayed for repentance among the believers and non believers. It was a prayer from heaven and set the tone for the service. There was a definite anointing in the room!!! When I got to the end of the service, people were responding from everywhere. They had about 10 counselors available but there were about 300 people who had lined the altar and were all the way around the sanctuary. People who came down from the balcony could barely find a place to stand due to the amount of people who had already come forward. It was the biggest response I have ever seen in a Sunday morning service. We have seen more people make commitments in crusades and student events but I've never seen anything comparable in a regular church service. I was blown away and had a hard time not jumping off the platform so I could begin running circles around the sanctuary. I HONESTLY believe I could have broken the world record and become the fastest man to ever run a mile. My heart felt like it was stretching the skin in my chest. I can't really explain it, but if you have ever been hunting, it's something like seeing a huge deer or wild turkey and your adrenaline heightens your senses. I was in ecstasy looking into the faces of my new brothers and sisters and I loved them. Officially, there were 238 decisions for Christ but not all were properly accounted for because the church was completely caught off guard. About 80% of the decisions were adults. It was amazing to see people of all ages so broken. Seldom do I see so many adults let down their guard and be transparent before God. Grandparents, young couples, adults, teens, gray hairs, no hairs and everyone imaginable were at the altar. There were so many tears that you could hear the sniffling and even loud sobs of some people. God's Spirit moved in like a hurricane!!!! I told Missy from the airport,"If I die today, I am a satisfied man!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" The pastor texted his son-in- law at 12:10pm and said, "How did the service go"?? Son-in-law texted back, "It's still going!!!" In disbelief, the pastor asked, "What's going on?" The son-in- law texted back, "About a third of your church is at the altar--doing business with God". He then took a picture of the altar with his cell phone and sent it to the pastor to prove it. The service ended with the associate pastor telling the congregation, "I've been on staff here for over 30 years and I've never seen anything like this. I'm just speechless!!!!!!!!!!!!!" Thanks for praying for me!! Your prayers are the primary reason we are seeing God move in supernatural and unheard of ways. I'll be in Atlanta this weekend so please continuing lifting this ministry up. Longing For More Jay |
