At Our Farmers Market Booths This Week
Bare Root Chandler Strawberry Chandler has the reputation as being the ideal flavor and texture for a fresh picked strawberry. 40 cents each.
Bare Root Grape Lakemont seedless This hybrid of the commercial Thompson Seedless grape is considerably better suited for growing locally. Thompson Seedless requires Central Valley heat and often suffers from mildew. Lakemont is mildew-free and although heat tolerant, ripens well under typical Orange County conditions.
Bare Root Grape Flame seedless This is the popular commercial, summer ripening, red grape. Orange County weather is warm enough to ripen it, but you will have to treat it for mildew some years.
Bare Root Wine Grape Cabernet Sauvignon This is the most popular wine grape cultivar. It is quite adaptable and easy to grow. It is at its best in gravely soils in warmer climates. You may need to treat for mildew. It is also noted for its exceptional eating quality fresh off the vine.
Bare Root Wine Grape Chardonney This is a very popular white wine grape. It prefers coastal locations and clay soils. It is quite easy and disease resistant.
Bare Root Wine Grape Zinfandel This is a very widely grown wine grape. It prefers coastal locations and is easy to grow but tends to ripen unevenly.
Potted Blueberry plants are still available, but our supply is getting low.
