Jonathan BrandCornell chooses 15th president 
Jonathan Brand has been named Cornell's 15th president, effective July 1, 2011. Brand is currently President of Doane College in Nebraska. He will be on campus in February to meet the college community.

Cornell asks to re-join Midwest Conference
Cornell has sent a letter of inquiry to the Midwest Conference asking to re-join. Cornell was a founding member of the conference in 1921, but left in 1997 to join the Iowa Conference. The proposed switch would build on longstanding academic relationships with the majority of schools in the Midwest Conference, as well as large numbers of alumni and prospective students in places where the Midwest Conference competes. In the first year of such rankings, Cornell College was tied for No. 64 among national liberal arts colleges as ranked by some of the nation's high school counselors. The rankings were part of the annual U.S. News & World Report college rankings. Read more...

Five alumni honored at Homecoming
Five distinguished Cornell alumni were honored at the annual Homecoming Convocation. Lois Hetland '75 received the Distinguished Alumni Achievement Award; Robert Pierce '75, Robert Engel '55, and Lee Swanson '60 were given Leadership and Service Awards; and Dr. Barron Bremner '96 was given the Young Alumni Achievement Award. New alumni directory
The Alumni Office has contracted with Publishing Concepts (PCI) to produce an alumni directory, and PCI will begin contacting alumni for updates in spring 2011. Cornell's last alumni directory was distributed in 2002.
