Cornell chooses 15th president Jonathan Brand has been named Cornell's 15th president, effective July 1, 2011. Brand is currently President of Doane College in Nebraska. He will be on campus in February to meet the college community.

Cornell asks to re-join Midwest Conference Cornell has sent a letter of inquiry to the Midwest Conference asking to re-join. Cornell was a founding member of the conference in 1921, but left in 1997 to join the Iowa Conference. The proposed switch would build on longstanding academic relationships with the majority of schools in the Midwest Conference, as well as large numbers of alumni and prospective students in places where the Midwest Conference competes. Cornell highly rated by guidance counselors In the first year of such rankings, Cornell College was tied for No. 64 among national liberal arts colleges as ranked by some of the nation's high school counselors.
