Greetings!
Imagine a world without someone to help... imagine a community without Florence Fuller Child Development Center.  This e-newsletter shows you how to make a lasting gift to the centers.  Your gift will continue the legacy of two incredible women, Florence Fuller and Francis Cohen, who cared about the working poor in our community.

Let us create a lasting legacy so the future children and families in our area will have the benefits of early childhood education. Thank you for your continued support of FFCDC. Together we will make a difference!  In the words of John Fitzgerald Kennedy -
"Children are the world's most valuable
resource and its best hope for the future"

Heartfelt,

Pam

Planned Giving - Memorialize Your Wishes for FFCDC's Future

YES, YOU TOO CAN MAKE A PLANNED GIFT

TO THE CENTERS

Robert J. Robes, Esq.,

Co-Chair of the Planned Giving Committee

There is a common myth that planned giving is complicated and only for those individuals of significant wealth. In truth, however, planned giving need not be difficult at all, and, more importantly, it is available to anyone. In addition to the substantial impact the following planned gift options make on the lives of the children served by FFCDC, a planned gift may provide you with significant income and estate tax benefits.

Bequests -  A bequest is a written statement in your will directing that specific assets, or a percentage of your estate, will be transferred to FFCDC upon your death. This statement also may direct how FFCDC uses your bequest. We suggest using language similar to the following: "I give, devise and bequeath to Florence Fuller Child Development Centers, Inc., a charitable organization whose principal office is located at 200 N.E. 14th Street, Boca Raton, Florida 33432, (state percentage of estate, sum of money or otherwise describe property) to be used for its general (or state specific) purposes."

Retirement Plans and IRAs
- To make a gift from your retirement plan or IRA., name "Florence Fuller Child Development Centers, Inc." as the entire or partial beneficiary of your plan assets at death on a beneficiary designation form which can be obtained from the plan administrator of your retirement plan or IRA.

Life Insurance - A planned gift of life insurance is accomplished by naming FFCDC as the entire or partial beneficiary of the policy on a beneficiary designation form which can be obtained from the insurance agent from whom you purchased the policy.

Pledged Gifts - A pledge to FFCDC is similar to an outright gift, but it allows you to make a gift of money, stock or other property to FFCDC over a period of time in a manner that may be more budget-friendly.

A simple planned gift, like those set forth above, is something anyone can choose to do. However, planned giving can be more complicated and involve trusts, annuities and other more complex structures so we recommend that you discuss these potential tax benefits with your personal tax adviser or a member of the planned giving committee.   Please call Pam Calzadilla at (561) 391-7274, et. 111, if you are interested in discussing planned giving with her or any one of the planned giving committee members.

The Junior League of Boca Raton Helps to Diaper Every Little Bottom
Diaper Drive Delivery Day
The scenario is real.  A groundbreaking new study reveals that 1 in 3 American moms are in diaper need - meaning they struggle to provide diapers for their babies. This issue of 'diaper need' is serious and has been largely unrecognized until now.

That's why the Junior League of Boca Raton is partnering with the Huggies® Every Little Bottom program to raise awareness about diaper need and to help address the need in our community and across the U.S. Through the Every Little Bottom program we are going to create a means for change - a change that will improve the lives of millions of babies and their families.

Here are more alarming statistics:
  • 1 in 3 American moms struggle to provide enough diapers for their babies.
  • The closest organized diaper bank is on the West coast of Florida.
  • Infants require approximately 12 diapers per day and toddlers need 8.
  • A baby crying non-stop from being in a soiled diaper for a prolonged period of time is more likely to be a victim of abuse.
Last month, the Junior League's Diaper Drive provided 109 FFCDC families 5,450 diapers. This kind of monthly assistance means moms and dads struggling with diaper needs won't have to cut back on other basic essentials, like food, utilities, or child care, in order to provide diapers.  Thank you Junior League of Boca Raton for being big hearts giving to the littlest members of our community!

WAY to GO LUCAS METROPULOS!

We are honored to be a supported by Fishing for families. The following is a special message from Lucas...

"With your support I have been named the All Star Award Winner of 2012. Friends, family and supporters banded together and rallied for votes because they believed that I could make a difference by accepting this award. The Gannett Foundation will now give me $10,000 for charity purposes. I have decided to give the money away to two charities that I serve. I will be giving $5,000 to the Florence Fuller Child Developmental Center in Boca Raton, FL and $5,000 to the Ronald McDonald House in Durham, NC. Both charities do amazing deeds and continually need assistance to do what they do. I started Fishing for Families in Need  when I was 15 years old and now at the age of 19, I am amazed at how much it has grown. During the contest, 400 people visited our website in only a few hours from over 15 countries. We now have the program in Boca Raton, FL / Durham, NC / and Martha's Vineyard, MA."

Note:  Lucas Metropulos (photo - above)was named the Men With Caring Hearts' Youth in Philanthropy Award winner in 2011.

Thank you to Susan Tabor and the Giving Tree of Temple Beth EL for graciously orchestrating  the donations of two mini-vans full of diapers for our families.
