Greetings!
February -  the month for chilly nights and the much anticipated celebration of Valentine's Day. The mere mention of the occasion conjures up delightful childhood memories of red hearts and picking that special card for a classmate or loved one.

At FFCDC we felt the community's love of our mission  with the many parties organized and visitors stopping by to see the children. While holidays are a perfect occasion to visit, we welcome you and your friends to return to the centers year around.

Collectively as an agency, it warms our hearts to know donors like you embrace the FFCDC mission. It only takes a moment to look into the eyes or see the smile of one of our students to know you are making a difference right here in your community. On behalf of the Board of Directors, families and staff, we thank you for sharing your big hearts with the little ones!

For our friends we have yet to meet, please consider scheduling a tour of either east or west campus. We welcome the opportunity to show you around and introduce the kids to you so please call me at 561.391.7274., ext. 111. Hope to hear from you soon!

Heartfelt,

Pam

FFCDC's Music Academy Finds A Home
Gail Wasserman & Dr. Richard Lee

Gail Wasserman's love of music is contagious! Second to her love of music is her commitment to the children of FFCDC's Music Academy. She recently turned her passion into action with  an exclusive gathering in her home of friends interested in learning about the music program. Dr. Richard Lee joined with Gail in kicking off the night by announcing their gift of $25,000 to provide instruction for the students at the Centers that would like to learn to play the keyboard and or guitar.

The evening was hosted by Neiman Marcus and musical performances were provided by Boca Raton Symphonia.

Gail shares, "My long-term vision for this program is to have instructors for all the instruments, and to have a music room in the future Activity Center at the West Center campus. I believe that music will not only enrich these children's lives, but it is a magical gift we can provide them."

Thanks also are extended to Musical Cares, a local organization founded by Bronsen Bloom, age 15, both centers are equipped with donated musical instruments needed for the program.  Gail adds, "Recently scientific evidence proves that an education in the arts makes better math and science students and these are a few of the reasons that Dick & I would like to make our pledge of $25,000 to this program. Who knows one of these children could be the next Tchaikovsky!"

FFCDC Students Embrace Multicultural Days

Children enjoying festivities at the West Center

"Diversity is the one true thing we all have in common. Celebrate it every day."
author unknown.

February brings the much anticipated Multicultural Month. This heartwarming experience gives our children, parents and teachers an opportunity to celebrate their heritage and the many nations represented by the families of FFCDC.

The school calendar has highlighted many celebrations such as parades, pot-luck meals, and musical / dance performances. The children and teachers learn songs in a variety of languages, reenact historical moments and parents bring a host of native dishes for delicious buffets.

A highlight of the event for both campuses is African American History Day. Popular and historic leaders from the African American community are portrayed by the children giving them a great source of superb role models to study.

FFCDC Families Benefit From Jewish Federation's Mitzvah Day
A "Celebration of Community & Mitzvah Day," presented by the Jewish Federation and co-chaired by Robin Rubin, Joan Hauser and Amy Ross,  included FFCDC's families as recipients of the annual event's gently used clothing drive. The brunch was recently held at the St. Andrews Country Club and included unique choices for the guest: play Mah Jongg, Bridge or Canasta or, for the non-gamer, groups created care packages of donated,  presorted and sized clothing.

Deborah Sutton, East Center Director of Education said, "Our parents are overjoyed to receive the clothing donations from the event. I attended the brunch this year and was impressed by the quality and quantity of donation for our families."
