Greetings!

Anita

I began to pray... "Lord, I do NOT understand." Surely I'm not the only ministry-person who prayed such a prayer!

His response seemed immediate: no sooner had the words escaped my lips, He said, "...and lean NOT on your own understanding" I began to think more seriously: "so, in all my ways I am to acknowledge Him... How do I do that?"

I began to search deeper into the meaning of Proverbs 3:5-6, beginning with the word trust. I found that this command says I must place ultimate confidence in and make the object of my trust that place where I gain security...

Where or Whom? So-when we venture to trust, it is focused. What matters most is where I place my trust; the what or the Who I place my ultimate confidence in! If we don't begin on a proper foundation, every other part of this passage is skewed. To begin, I must clarify whom do I trust?

How? With ALL my heart-every part and parcel; every iota, everything! Whatever I can begin to identify, that is what I am to entrust to Him, so be as thorough as possible. I must discipline my mind, thinking, reflections and memory and direct it to trust. This means I must capture my inclinations and make a conscious determination.

There's more! Then, I am to support myself by leaning on that Trust and relying only on that support. The challenge here is to identify my tendency to trust other things or other people, and make a conscious decision to trust Him who is worthy of such trust. I am not to rely on my human discernment or education, or any capability of my own, instead give that over to Him who loves me.

Regarding? Every single thing; each and every part, the totality of it all... regardless, I am to lean on Him for support rather than my own insights or skills. Doing this causes me to stop and think even more, and acknowledge my Savior Jesus who has paid the ultimate price to redeem me. I must recognize my ways and then concede to His way.

The Result? He will make our paths straight! He acquaints us with the path He chose for us, and it becomes familiar through experience. He is there, always one-step ahead.

The promise is so comforting. He takes the path of my life, and your life, and makes it His path, straight toward His direction and purpose. He places us on the path, and takes us every step of the distance. Regardless of circumstances, that path is a good path, for He designed it and directs my steps along the way.

This path is pleasing to God. It is upright and agreeable with His ways and His character. Just like the picture of Habakkuk 3:19 "...He has made my feet like hinds feet, and makes me walk on my high places."

What an amazing picture-the promise that He will enable our feet to walk as if they were uniquely designed to walk on that road, the exact path, the one He leads us on. Will you pray for my continued walk? Thanks; I'll pray for you as well.

An easy verse to quote, but what a challenge to do. Proverbs 3:8 says, "It will be healing to your body and refreshment to your bones."
