FINALLY!   The last we communicated with you  - we were in the throws of trying to launch our new site. 8 weeks later - The new site is live!  LIVE!  (We do apologize but this technical gliche involved someone to write a new program in order for our site to be secure.  We can now get down to the business of giving some prizes away and seeing some posting happen!

Since all of our prizes, stories and features revolved and related to the launch of the new site  we have held off sending out our emails and advertising our giveaway.  We had no way of having you enter and fairly give away our prizes without the site - so here we go!  We hope you will join us and that you will enjoy posting and entering the drawings.

With the giveaway and the launch we are featuring four Pastor's Wive's and their books.

August through November we will feature one of these women through video, book review, and articles relating to their personal journey, the books they have authored and any insight they can share with us.  Our first Ministry Wife is Susie Hawkins. Susie HawkinsSusie is a Bible study teacher and ministry wife in Dallas, Texas. Susie earned a Masters in Christian Leadership and a Masters of Arts in Theology from The Criswell College, Dallas, TX.
She frequently teaches or speaks at women's Bible studies or events. Susie has contributed to several periodicals and is a contributor to the Women's Evangelical Library Old Testament Commentary, soon to be released. She is the author of "From One Ministry Wife to Another - Honest Conversations on Connections in Ministry." She previously served as Director of Women\'s Ministry at Prestonwood Baptist Church in Dallas. She is married to OS Hawkins and they have 2 daughters and 6 grandchildren. 

 

In her book, "From One Ministry Wife to Another - Honest Conversations on Connections in Ministry"  Susie helps us to see the connections and  disconnections in family, friendships and ministry and then helps us to reconnect to the most important relationship we have as women.  It is an honest conversation with a learned woman of God who has sought to learn at the feet of those who have gone before her and still continues to be teachable as she connects in ministry with women all of over the globe! Join me the month of August as we get to hear from her heart (with wit and candor) Susie Hawkins.

Delight or Duty
Summer Read Recommendation

 


As summer approached this year, I was determined to define the difference between "Duty and Delight".  There were and have been so many activities!  If you happen to be a school teacher (as I used to be), there were end of year tests and grades, parties, and paperwork!  

 

If you are a mom of school age children, there were parties, teacher gifts, and summer activities to plan. 

Churches were having recognitions and end of year parties as well! 

Did I mention that VBS?

Whew!  When do we get to relax and delight in the Lord?

In these final days of summer I encourage you to take a look at Tammie Head's six week study Duty or Delight?  Knowing Where You Stand with God.  This study focuses on biblical truths that can free you from spiritual insecurities while igniting your faith.  Tammie says, "Christ means more than keeping all the boxes checked."  Is your relationship with God more like a duty or a delight?  I don't know about you, but having one less box to be checked on my to do list sounds great!  Let's delight in the Lord and remove Him from our list of duties!  I cannot think of anything better for my summer!
