Are We Missing the Boat? Strengthening Teen Pregnancy Prevention, Adolescent Sexual Health, and Youth Empowerment by Effectively Addressing Relationship ViolenceThis program is designed for program directors and direct service staff who work with adolescents (both young women and young men). It will provide a framework that is new to southwestern Pennsylvania, but has proven effective in other regions.
- How would our work with adolescents change if we admit that many teen pregnancies and sexually transmitted infections are the result of sex that girls didn't want to have in the first place?
- What if we learn that standard domestic violence screening questions aren't as effective in starting conversations with adolescents?
- Would you be willing to change the standard language your program uses if there was a better way to invite frank conversation (with both young women and young men) about coercion in their relationships?
When: October 16, 1:00-5:00pm
Where: Rodef Shalom Congregation, 4905 Fifth Avenue, Pittsburgh, PA 15213
Cost: $10/person (Pre-registration is necessary.)
