Happy Birthday Angels'
Place!
This fall, Angels' Place,
Inc. celebrates 25 years of providing free childcare and support services to single, low-income, full-time
student parents and their children.
Angels' Place (formerly known as "Mom's House") was started by Mary
Winter with one family in a church basement in Brookline in 1984. Shortly afterwards, the first Angels'
Place "center" was acquired (also in Brookline). A second center opened in Swissvale in 1989, and a third on
the Northside in 1998. All three
centers are NAEYC accredited and are currently enrolling clients. For more information, please go to www.angelsplacepgh.org or call 412-321-4447.

Every Child, Inc.
to Work with GLBT Youth and Spanish-Speaking Women
Every Child, Inc. is a Pittsburgh-based nonprofit,
multi-service agency that serves, birth, foster and adoptive families and
children and youth with special needs. Through two major grants recently
awarded, the agency is now welcoming referrals to reach two new populations: Through generous funding from The Heinz Endowments, our
bilingual staff can now offer our Pregnancy and Parenting Support services to
the Hispanic community of Pittsburgh. Specifically, we will work with Spanish-speaking,
pregnant teens and women whose language barriers and documentation challenges
present obstacles to healthy pregnancy, birth and parenting experiences.
Additionally, through a grant from The Staunton Farm
Foundation, Every Child, Inc. will now begin preparations to work with gay,
lesbian, bisexual and transgender (GLBT) youth. Our Family-Based Mental Health
clinicians will be training in collaboration with Persad Center, Inc., the
nation's second oldest licensed counseling center specifically created to serve
the GLBT community, in preparation for working with this population in coming
months.
For more information about either service, or to make a
referral, call Every Child, Inc. at 412.665.0600.
