On Saturday, April 18th Bumgarner Wines released the 2006 Cabernet Sauvignon retailing for $44 bottle. This rich, ripe Cabernet is more fruit driven than the 2005 vintage, which has more spicy and Earthy aromas. Both wines are in the Bumgarner tradition of BIG Cabs with highly extracted cassis and black cherry aromas, balanced by a firm tannic structure and lush finish.

 

For this special release there was a wine and cheese reception inside the winery at ParaVi Vineyards. In addition to a side by side pouring of both the 2005 and 2006 Cabernets, Brian Bumgarner offered barrel tasting of the Bumgarner 2007 Tempranillo.

 

This Spanish varietal known for great structure and intensity was well received. Futures for the Bumgarner Tempranillo are on sale for $105 a half case (6-btl) and $202 full case (12-btl). This wine will retail between $24 & $30 a bottle and is expected to be released this year.
