| Reality Sets In
|
A question: Would you rather have someone discuss what is really going on concerning the economy, or would you rather listen to folks that are positive all of the time, no matter what is happening concerning the economy?
My school of thought tilts towards being reality based, as opposed to Mr. Happy, all the time, even when things are rather quiet.
The reality: We are probably in a recession. It won't last forever.
So what should we do?
Here is what I am doing: 1. I am getting my business and personal expenses skinny. Business wise, if something that I have been doing- marketing wise hasn't worked, then I have stopped it. {If it hasn't worked in 12 months, it won't work all of a sudden, this month}
2. I am scaling back at home on non-essentials, and trying to change my driving habits, a bit. I am trying to pack my lunch, almost every day. Little stuff adds up. A lot. Restaurant lunches average about $6.50 each, mulitplied by 3 times a week, multiplied by 4 weeks in a month equals almost $80.00. What can $80.00 a month do for you??? {Iam thinking 1.5 tanks of gas!}
It is ok to scale back a bit, during these tough times.
On a positive note, times like this are usually a good time to investigate some non-traditional career optiosn, like for instance, franchising. {Really} Money is cheap to borrow, landlords need tentants, and it would be great to add some new businesses and jobs to our NEO economy. Right?
