Dan McCullom:  Dan has been with The Event Team since 2000 and over the years has proven himself to be a key member of our onsite staff.  Dan is always professional with our clients, a proactive thinker and lots of fun to be around.  Most recently we had several events going on in LA and Dan was on top of all the different tasks required of him, and definitely helped our event run as smoothly as possible.  Thank you Dan for all your years of dedication to The Event Team.  We truly appreciate all you do for us!

A Big Box Office Summer!

 

matt presSummer Blockbusters have arrived and I will eventually see Prometheus, Batman, Spiderman, etc., if we ever get a chance to look up! Whatever happened to the group travel industry slowing down during the summer? (Not that I am complaining!)

 

We kicked off summer with a block party in the Gaslamp for 4,000 Children's Dentists, then hosted a much smaller group of men from Australia at the Playboy Mansion. (Playboy added 40 women as "Atmosphere Personnel" because if you are going to go visit Hef, you might as well go all the way.)

 

We will end the summer with groups on the USS Midway Aircraft carrier and at Petco Park. (Glad someone is getting some use out of the venue because the Padres are awful this season!)

 

The Sales team is really picking up the pace and we have site visits every week this summer in all parts of Southern California. And the really big Blockbuster news is that we have hired a new person to run the Los Angeles office. I would tell you his name but until he tells his current employer I am sworn to secrecy. (Take my word for it...you will love him!)

 

Happy Summer Everyone! (Did I mention I am going to Hawaii this summer for a late Honeymoon? Aloha!)

Big Changes in the Office!  

 

In the last couple of years, The Event Team managed to weather a huge recession and come out on top, celebrating our best year in 2011. As business grows, we've made a few changes here at the office to accommodate our new full-speed-ahead mentality. Be on the lookout for the official announcement of a huge addition to our Los Angeles team, but for now we'll tell you that he has a great personality, tons of event experience, and we know you will LOVE him as much as we do!

jess ingallsBack in the San Diego office, we are proud to welcome our newest team member, Jessica Ingalls. Jess has only been here for a couple months, but she is already a rock star assistant to Paige, Sally, & Rachelle in the Operations Department. She has made a great effort to learn the business and it feels like she's already been part of the team for years! Feel free to learn more about Jess here!

Big Party at The Playboy Mansion!
 
There is always a running joke in the office that we have the most interesting jobs in the world. We are always hiring unique entertainers, hunting down crazy event props, or securing access into new
exclusive venues. June took the cake with an event at The Playboy Mansion in Los Angeles! (You know it's going to be an interesting event when you start negotiating the number of "bunnies" that will be onsite). We're excited to say the night went off without a hitch, and 45 Australians left the states with something to brag about!

Big Block Party in San Diego!

 

What do you do when you want to throw a party for 4,000 people in San Diego? You turn the Gaslamp District into your very own private playground, that's what you do! Well, that's what The Event Team does FOR you.

 

Last May, we organized a huge block party in downtown San Diego for over 4,000 guests. This spectacular event featured everything from flash mobs to stilt walkers to dueling pianos to a high energy dance band rocking out in the middle of the street! All the best restaurants within the event footprint participated, making sure all our local flavors and cuisines were represented. We even designated the entire Jolt n' Joe's venue as a "Kid Zone." Congrats to Bill and Paige who made a fantastic sales/ops team on this larger than life event! Make sure to contact us for your next Blockbuster Block Party!

Big Recognition in the Community! 

On June 7, we were excited to attend the 2nd Annual Heilbron Awards at the Sheraton Harbor Island resort. Presented in partnership with Rotary Club 33 of San Diego and named after the club's first president, The Heilbron Awards was designed to recognize small, medium and large public and private companies that exemplify the pay it forward spirit - that give of themselves and their professional expertise to advance the well being and success of others in the community.

The Event Team was nominated due to their
our contributions to the community via our Philanthropic Teambuilding programs. In 2012, we have already organized several events that benefited local schools and charitable causes such as Euclid Elementary, the Polinsky Center, Father Joe's Village, and the Boys & Girls Club. Although we didn't win this time around, we were truly honored to be in the great company of some of San Diego's finest organizations. We always love to help our clients give back to the local community - it is one of our favorite things that we get the opportunity to do here at The Event Team!
