Sure Ride has been a trusted and valued partner of The Event Team for several years. But this past quarter Raul and Scott and their team of experienced drivers have been more like a new department within The Event Team. As groups book with less lead time we find ourselves needing mini coaches and vans more than ever. Each time we call Sure Ride, you can anticipate Raul's "can-do" attitude and know that he will be there for you and your group whether you give him 2 weeks or 2 hours lead time.
Raul is also great at going with the flow and taking last-minute changes in stride. It is a challenge to stay on top of every last-minute transportation adjustment, but knowing we have a trusted partner that works hard for us makes every little change much easier to navigate.
Thank you to Raul, Scott and the rest of the Sure Ride team for being such an important and valued partner to The Event Team.

Matt's Message...
"It was the best of times it was the worst of times." So far, this year has run the gamut of incredible highs and lows. On a business level it is our best year ever in our 20 year history! On a personal level I am newly married and I have never been happier. But we have also lost a lot of dear friends and family this year. It is always a cold slap in the face that you better enjoy the life you are living because you don't get a second chance. I have started to make a conscious effort to appreciate what I have and not take anything for granted. So I say...Celebrate everything and anything you can. Hug someone you love and celebrate everything life has to offer. Life should be a celebration!

The Event Team celebrates Mike Ames
September 30, 2011 was a sad day for us as we lost one of the dearest members of The Event Team family. Mike Ames dedicated his life to making the lives of those around him better. He was a great asset to The Event Team, and an even better friend to us. We always counted on his positive attitude, kind disposition, and his ability to solve just about any problem in record time.
The Event Team is celebrating Mike by awarding him the Employee of the Quarter award. Even though it's an honor he's received many times in the past, we consider this to be a Lifetime Achievement award that celebrates all of the wonderful accomplishments Mike made not just in the past three months but over the course of his lifetime, both personally and in his career. We will miss you Mike, and we were so lucky to be blessed with your friendship!

The Event Team is always on the lookout for fresh ways to make your event pop. Allow us to list some of the trendiest event enhancements we've noticed over the last few months:
Liquid Nitrogen Ice Cream: This is not your average Sundae station! Following the growing fascination with gastronomy among the region's top chefs, liquid nitrogen ice cream stations are popping up as cool new options for offsite events. It is part dessert, part science experiment, and part entertainment; it's fun to watch and even more fun to eat!
 Food Trucks: The ultimate locals-only experience, food trucks are popping
up all over Southern California's beaches and cities. Offering a range of options (tacos, burgers, hot dogs, Korean BBQ, gourmet sushi, organic cuisine, specialty coffees & desserts, etc.) these meals-on-wheels experiences are a fun alternative to that ho-hum crudité display you've grown accustomed to. The Event Team is a huge fan of food trucks not only because of their wow-factor appearance, but also because they provide an authentic display of Southern California's eclectic food palette.
Wine Glass Engraving: This new event trend is the perfect event enhancement for any upscale function because it blends on-site entertainment (each crystal wine glass is beautifully engraved with the attendee's name in mere seconds!) with the added value of a take-home gift. Activity Spotlights
Lots of new activities are making their way onto the Southern California scene, and The Event Team is thrilled to share just a couple with you:
San Diego - Beer Me! The fine city of San Diego is enjoying its growing reputation as one of the country's up-and-coming microbrewery meccas. Boasting over 30 breweries of various sizes, San Diego is a beer connoisseur's holy grail. Allow The Event Team to put together a completely customized beer tour for your group! We plan tour & tasting routes according to your timing, location & taste specifications. We can also offer beer-related trivia games en route to each location, offering take-home bottles of San Diego's most popular local brews as a prize. Other options include special presentations from the brew-masters themselves! Or if you'd rather stay in one spot and have all the drinks delivered to you, we suggest a beer-themed "Taste of San Diego" offsite function at the newly-opened "98 Bottles" venue in Little Italy (pictured below). This new event space seats up to 85 guests and features a rotating menu of San Diego's best Craft Beer. Cheers!
Los Angeles - Accomplice Hollywood
The Event Team is excited to offer a new theatrical experience in Los Angeles called Accomplice Hollywood. Founded in 2005 by Tom Salamon and Betsy Sufott, Accomplice New York gained momentum in the City and The Village, eventually catching the eye of celebrity Neil Patrick Harris, who suggested creating a Los Angeles version. Accomplice blows the average walking tour out of the water. "It all begins with a phone call disclosing a secret meeting location. Armed with a few bits of information, participants are sent on a mission aided by clues and mysterious cast members strewn throughout various locations such as street corners, bars, and iconic landmarks." As of now, Accomplice can only be experienced in New York, London, and Hollywood. Contact The Event Team to set up the experience for large groups (the company advertises for groups of 10, but we know somebody who knows somebody). We encourage you to channel your inner-sleuth and experience the City of Angels in a whole new way!
