Employee of the First Quarter

jackie herman
This quarter started off with a bang, and we would not be able to continue operating successful programs if it weren't for the help of our awesome field staff.  This quarter, Jackie Herman stood out as a star player.  She worked on several programs in many different capacities, including airport transfers, tours and team-building.  She can do it all! Jackie always demonstrates professionalism and leadership and that is why we are happy to name her Employee of the First Quarter.

When booking entertainment, reliability and quality of service are two priorities for The Event Team.  One of our favorite jazz guitarists, Elliott Lawrence, has demonstrated both of those qualities on multiple occasions this quarter. Elliott's style blends perfectly with cocktail receptions- his talent is easily noticeable, but the music does not interfere with casual mingling amongst guests.  Elliott was kind enough to donate his services to our last mixer, and his music created the perfect touch! Be sure to ask for him when you book your next event with us!

Hello, Wonderful Friends of The Event Team!

Welcome to another year!  It's springtime and business is officially blooming here in the office.  April promises to be one of our busiest months ever, and we couldn't be more excited.  Since we last saw you, Moriah Burdick gave birth to an adorable baby named Lyla, Romy Linde (formerly Segall) married a wonderful fellow named Gavin, and we added 2 full-time employees to the team (more on them below).  We are thrilled to embrace such growth in both our industry and in our Event Team family.  Thank you so much for your support of our company- we wish you a happy, healthy and successful 2011!

Teambuilding Spotlight: "Can"Struction
As we all know, philanthropic team-building activities gained popularity as CSR-awareness increased during the recession. Thankfully these events are still going strong and groups are enjoying giving back to the local community in a positive way.  One of our favorites canstructionhere at The Event Team is our "Can"Struction Challenge.  Each team is given non-perishable food items and various other supplies and asked to make a themed design and presentation before a panel of judges.  While scores are tallied, a local food bank representative speaks to the group about the organization and thanks them for their kind donation  The highest score (based on creativity and teamwork) wins, and each member of the winning team is given an engraved medal!  All guests receive a certificate of participation to commemorate their good deed for the day! Check out a staff video of our last "Can"Struction Challenge here!
Getting to Know The Event Team

As we mentioned above, The Event Team experienced some pretty drastic changes at the end of last year that left us with some big shoes to fill in the office.  Moriah extended her maternity leave, Rnewhiresomy was out of the office for a few weeks of newlywed bliss, and Amy Cimino made a career change to managing the San Diego region of a company called Bidpal (Contact her for all your Silent Auction needs). We originally planned on hiring one replacement, but after crossing paths with Ciera Davis and Rachelle Kirchner, we had to make room for them both. Ciera has been doing a fabulous job assisting the sales team and establishing relationships with her new hotel partners.  Rachelle has been a great help to both the operations and sales team by not only working on programs but also by keeping the office running efficiently.  Overall, it has been a smooth transition and there is a fresh new energy in the office thanks to their presence.  Want to find out more about Ciera and Rachelle? Check out their profiles here!

Mind, Body & Spirits Mixer: Showcasing USD

Every few months, The Event Team shows off a new venue or event space to their hotel partners and friends.  On March 23, we invited our nearest and dearest to the University of San Diego, which now offers a variety of options for corporate group functions.  With a great central location and a beautiful sweeping view of the city, USD's campus is a fabulous addition to The Event Team's event space options.  Click here to check out some pictures of the event.
